I hope this pig man gets fired, loses all his money in the stock market, has his wife leave him, and dies alone under a bridge.

If there was any justice in this world...

Why should he worry? According to his own statistics, which have to be full of truth and incontrovertable facts, he still has 5 Gajillion sponsors and his program still draws in 476 Billionty-Gozillion listeners a day. Surely this man is not worried about lose a few Kagajilliionity listens or a few blatizillion sponsors.

Sounds about right, for now anyway. Rush may not immediately notice any fallout from some advertisers bailing on him, but that's because he's too self absorbed. At the local level, advertising often works differently, with local businesses advertising on local stations having more say in what programs their ads play on. Rush's many affiliates can't afford the loss of 45, or often even 25, advertisers. And if Rush's affiliates start to bail it will be a lot harder to ignore.

When enough advertisers leave that it's like losing the pudding, the panic will set in.

You're a venal, nasty little blowhard, Mr. Limbaugh. I realize that's your resumè, but it doesn't make it impressive.

I heard from a reliable source that he has two Kajagoogle listeners, but that's Limahl.

He's got a contract. It's obscene. Yeah, he might temporarily lose a few sponsors but that doesn't hurt him at all. This whole thing will go away in a couple weeks, his ratings will be higher because of it, and sponsors will come back.

It strikes me that trashing former advertisers and urging your listeners to boycott them is not the best way to get new ones to replace them.

It wouldn't surprise me, in radio ads there are few shows these days where you will get someone to stay on the dial during a commercial break. Limbaugh has his legion of fail glued to his station, if I had national ad dollars to spend and my product wasn't women oriented I'd advertise on his show and I am one of the liberalist liberals that ever liberaled.

The way it works -- he has a contract with Clear Channel, via their subsidiary, Premier Networks, who distributes his show across the nation to an obscene number of stations. Individual stations pay Premier Networks, who pay Rush Limbaugh. Rush has a contract with Premier, not with the individual stations. That contract paid him $100 million in 2008 plus $38 million a year for 8 years.

If advertisers drop, that's on Premier and the individual stations. In no way is it going to in any way effect Rush, who has a contract. Premier has to pay him.

So, boycott whomever you want. It maybe might hurt Rush in 4 years when his contract is up. Maybe.

Susan G. Komen For the Cure. You didn't hear about that? It was kind of a huge deal. Komen pulled a couple hundred thousand dollars from donations to Planned Parenthood and PP lost their collective shiat.

Nothing he said was in violation of FCC rules. It was stupid, idiotic, offensive, and has no place in political discourse but it wasn't legally indecent or obscene.

I hate to say it, but I find it hard to believe companies are just going to continue to ignore the 10 million+ or whatever listeners he has, no matter how big the shiatstorm is. Next week Santorum will say something stupid or a celebrity will die and it'll be safe for companies to start filling in the gaps.

False equivalency equating Planned Parenthood's reaction to Susan G.Komen with Rush's reaction to his sponsors.

My main beef with Mr. Limbaugh is his show is pure fiction; most of what he says is demonstrably false. Just read one of his books and it quickly becomes apparent he's an entertainer playing a part, and the story lines are scripted. Unfortunately the standard these days is "not intended to be a factual statement", and the listeners who tune in to be whipped into a self-righteous frenzy don't care.

I'm willing to bet that Clear Channel has a clause in it that says if Rush commits some sort of a crime they DON'T have to pay him. If you were a large company, wouldn't you protect yourself in this manner?

Funny how Rush calls them small fries now, but before those advertisers pulled from the show, Rush put in a great deal of effort weaving mentions of Carbonite, etc, into his monologues, into his show.

I've always found it interesting how difficult it is to find out how many listeners he actually has. He will say how many stations carry his show and base his listener totals on the total number of listeners those stations have. But it's very hard to get an idea of how many actual listeners he has. At least that's my impression.

Tell you what, I'll even get it started for you. Here is a snippet from their official press release that I think is the most "mean" part of what they said:

"We are alarmed and saddened that the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation appears to have succumbed to political pressure. Our greatest desire is for Komen to reconsider this policy and recommit to the partnership on which so many women count," said Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
