Incontinent_dog_and_monkey_rodeo: They should definitely have web streaming of every event live. With the internet there's no reason not to have that in addition to whatever sanitized coverage they want to provide.

They had this four years ago, people just didn't want to be bothered to find it. All the boring rowing events you wanted.

unyon: Welcome to the latter part of the 20th century, Americans. We're happy to have you.

Imperialism: JerseyTim: I can't wait to watch the badmintonhandball.

Reading that quickly, I saw 'African handball', which is, coincidentally, how my father refers to Basketball.

Does he do that sitting in a recliner with beer dribbling onto his plaid flannel shirt?

Yanks_RSJ: Oh good, it's this thread, where everybody who watches only NBC's primetime coverage of the Olympics complains that the broadcast is geared towards a wider audience.

They didn't pay billions of dollars to broadcast unpopular sports Americans suck at because that makes John and Jane Q. Viewer change the channel.

Seemingly, NBC also doesn't pay billions of dollars to show Americans anything resembling the Olympic competition.

I would like to see competition not some 15 minute biatch session. What is important is the race or the dive or the routine not what happened 10 years ago. You don't qualify for the Olympics by writing an essay about your life experience. You qualify by being better at something than your peers. And I would love to see exactly what that is. And the more competition I see, the happier I am that I watched the Olympics

NBC could have channels for every single sport and make money on advertising on all of them. Not to mention reducing overhead by getting rid of the little Goebbels from St. Louis and his heart-rending 30 minute stories of violence or suffering or sacrifice or hang-nails or pyloids or...

EnviroDude: NBC has ruined the coverage of the Olympics. Their background interest stories are sickening.

I can see you haven't watched the Olympics in a while, because NBC has pretty much eliminated them the past two Games.

I hope CTV/Rogers don't screw up the broadcasting for Canada, I think it's a real shame the CBC didn't win again, they were awesome in 2010.

Or the Xbox 360, given the relationship between NBC and Microsoft...

King Something: Tax Boy: Rain-Monkey: 'USA USA USA Fluff piece USA USA USA Fluff piece'.

Don't you find it inspiring that every American Olympic athlete has overcome cancer, has a spouse or child who has cancer, or this one time, at a restaurant, got served by a waitress who dated a guy whose mother survived breast cancer?

You said "cancer" thrice.

NBC sports really likes cancer

Does this mean we might actually get coverage of the non-US athletes?

I love watching our folks but for pete's sake, can we get more than 'USA USA USA Fluff piece USA USA USA Fluff piece'.
