She's not nearly cute enough to overcome the horror that is musical theatre.

YAAAY.

My Thursday night, the only night of the week I watch television, has been lacking without Community. This makes me happy.

2012-03-08 02:20:32 PM
Any chance the show will get higher ratings than My Big Smelly Hillbilly Wedding reality show?

As somebody who has just started getting into it, yes. For starters, I can tolerate Chevy Chase in it. And that is saying something.

The potential good news for Community on the 15th, instead of going up against The Big Bang Theory, which, more than likely, draws from a similar crowd of fans, it'll be going up against NCAA March Madness.

March Madness will be a ratings winner regardless, but perhaps some of TBBT crowd will carry over to Community, giving it a rise in the ratings.

I don't believe it draws anyone from the big bang theory. At least I hope not.

i'm a big fan of Community (and Annie's bewbs). However...I sure as hell hope the shows are funnier than that trailer.

Uh, really? Wow. That song is explicitly making fun of people like you. She even mentions it in the recent interview they did (new window)

Brie: It was funny to see people's reactions to that on Twitter: I'm not sure if I'm aroused or put off.

Ganz: But that's the thing. We're so used to that sexualization of women being an infantilized sexualization. In that song she gets dumber as the song goes on. Having you like crawl around on the ground and stuff, there's a definite message there.

Brie: By the end she's not even saying the words.

Well, just barely. I'm sure they could come up with a really good reason why they're still in school after 4 years (e.g. the Dean never bothered to get the US accreditation for the school... ironically enough, it was accredited in Columbia).

Or they'll just hand wave it away.

Do you think so? I would think that anyone who was really into Community would find TBBT insufferable and vice-versa.

That's the joke.

Well, yes. But that sort of shoots holes in the theory that Community's low ratings are partially due to the fact that it's opposite TBBT.

And it's funny because Annie is the character that is the serious, bookish, hardworking smart one. When Jeff says at the beginning of the clip "Annie, this is beneath you" he's pretty much meaning HER specifically since the whole routine is "so not her". The show is funny AND smart as hell. Community and Archer have got to be my two favorite things on TV.

But yeah, that she's smoking hot in general doesn't hurt.

And Evil Abed was in the trailer!!! Boosh! March 15th can't come fast enough.

Love both. And, since Community is on hulu and TBBT is not, I watch TBBT live. Since I'm not a Nielsen house, it doesn't make any difference.

/Target EXACTLY the same demographic
//Except for the hipsters douchebags who somehow think TBBT is a nerd minstrel show.

Well, that's honestly never been a very good theory.

Community and Network Television just really don't fit, IIWII - most really high quality comedy and television in general doesn't work on Network TV. The only thing that works on network TV anymore are self-contained, episodic procedural dramas, reality competition shows, and multi-cam, formulaic, set-up -> punchline sitcoms.

In the Venn Diagram that is television "high quality" and "mass appeal" have a very, very small overlap.

I liked TBBT a lot more before I discovered Community. I still watch TBBT, and it's still amusing...... but it just doesn't seem quite as smart or funny anymore by comparison.

IMHO Community is a show that is hard to see what the appeal is unless you actually just bite the bullet and watch an episode. And not the pilot. The pilot was "meh".... but from the very next episode onwards, pure unadulterated awesomesauce.

Love this show. I hope it goes on for more seasons.

Sidenote: My brother-in-law was getting takeout from someplace in Eagle Rock and Danny Pudi (Abed) was eating in the restaurant. He said Danny was just staring at him with the creepy "Abed" stare. I wish I'd been there to see it.

You obviously have never been to a community college or met a real community college lifer.

I knew a guy who had over 80 community college credits and no degree because he didn't want to take a math class.

luidprand: //Except for the hipsters douchebags who somehow think TBBT is a nerd minstrel show.

I'm not a hipster douchebag, and TBBT is pretty much a nerd minstrel show, but more egregiously, it's just not very funny.

The only character on that show of any worth is Sheldon, and his schtick is tiresome after a while. We get it, he has Asperger's...
