Mixed metaphor. Bakula is referenced because LSU needs a quarterback that doesn't suck.

Yeah, stick the uppity girl in there, in an SEC game on a kickoff. Let some 6'3" 250 lb backup linebacker who needs to get himself noticed for a starting spot get a few shots at her. The problem isn't if she can kick it far enough, the problem is will she be able to get the flying fark out of the way to avoid getting sent off the field on a stretcher. And forget about her tackling someone, maybe if she's lucky someone will trip on her after she gets pancaked.

Their size, strength, and ability to tackle mean jack squat. Not a year goes by you don't see a kicker get mauled when he somehow finds himself in the middle of actual football. No self-respecting coach is selecting a kicker based on tackling if he's two percent less accurate than the guy he beat out. If he can tackle too, great. Maybe he'll actually get to make one one day. Back when I was Junior (2002 maybe) our high school football team let a girl play. As a kicker of course. She didn't workout we us, she didn't warm up with us, she didn't do summer training, etc. But would whine to the coaches from the sidelines/goal post when we said sexist or offensive stuff to each other.

First time we played our county rivals, on the first kickoff she trotted out onto the field to huge applause. A few minutes later her football career was over when our line "accidentally" shifted and let two huge guys run in. I can't remember the exact calls, but it was probably an unnecessary roughness and hitting the kicker. They even ejected one of them.

The rest of the year we would watched the replay films and all hoot and holler seeing her knee get inverted.

It's like people have never watched football before. Have you seen some of the attempted tackles kickers have made? Tackling isn't something one looks at when evaluating a kicker. You usually just see them bumbling around or just throwing themselves to the ground.

Besides, this is college; it's not uncommon to see a kickoff kicker and a FG/XP kicker. It's not unheard of in the NFL, either. No one said she'd be handling kickoff duties, as well.

Take off your rose colored glasses, they fog your perception of reality. First of all, she doesn't have to be better than the next guy. She will be able to win the starting job (or the backup role) even if she is only fairly close in talent level due to the hoopla that will accompany this. Such is life, those are the breaks. And you can bet your last nickle that they will be lucky for her and unlucky for her competitors for the kicking job.

Secondly, if you think that a bunch of college football players aren't frothing at the mouth to be the first to able to legally send some woman to the hospital, well you haven't spent much time around football players. Knocking around some lilliputian foreigner just doesn't bring out the same animalistic instincts as getting a free shot on a woman who is trying to prove that women can make it on a football field. If she ever makes it to the field in a game situation, she is going to get creamed.

This is LSU football we're talking about. It's not like they're struggling to sell tickets or attract advertisers. In fact, having a female kicker, no matter how good she is, might be worse for the team- the minute she misses a non-impossible FG, Les Miles is under the microscope because what's most important there is winning national championships, not unnecessary gimmicks.

Long story short, if she's on the team, she'll have earned it.

That is some AAA horseshiat right there. LSU football is a massive multi-million dollar business. And quite a successful one I might add. They are not going to be adding a female kicker as a novelty act. They might let her work out as a novelty act for a little press. But no way she actually sees the field in an SEC game unless she can kick the hell out of a football. None whatsoever. Lucky for her the actual players on the team don't seem to be nearly as misogynistic as you seem to be.

To be fair, your o-line probably would have given up on a male kicker that acted the way you describe.

Of you're a kicker or a QB it's just a bad idea for the o-line to think you're an ass.

Mo is hot. She's also 6 feet tall and can drill 40 yard field goals and kick off to the end zone. She's a jock. This is actually a serious try out.

Just to give you an idea how big this homecoming queen is, check out her video "Mo v. Tyrann Mathieu." She goes toe to toe with the honey badger. Mathieu is an absolute beast on the field, a Heisman Trophy finalist, and Mo is at least 6 inches and 40 pounds bigger.

My guess is that if she gets on the team, she only sees playing time for field goals and PATs. No way they'd risk the bad publicity of farking up such a beautiful face and set of legs by having them get annihilated by some third-string Arkansas safety.

After studying on what you both have written, I see that I am in error and that y'all are correct. At this level of football it is professional, and talent would have to rule. The LSU fans were ready to crucify Les Miles over his choice of quarterbacks in the national championship game, and I doubt that he would give them a chance to do it again.

Sept. 15 Idaho - probably
Sept. 22 at Auburn - no
Sept. 29 Towson University - yes
Oct. 6 at Florida - no
Oct. 13 South Carolina - no
Oct. 20 at Texas A&M - no
Nov. 3 Alabama - hell no
Nov. 10 Mississippi State - maybe

his backup is the kicker in waiting, james hairston was our kick off specialist last season, and has a monster leg

2012-03-09 09:59:20 AM
HellRaisingHoosier's post doesn't make sense. The line shifted on a kickoff and let two big guys run in? Their is no offensive line on a kickoff and everyone should be running their ass down the field to tackle the returner. The kicker should have plenty of time to see any of the guys on the return coming and move to avoid. Also in that situation, two guys aren't going to take the kicker when they're busy blocking for the return.

Either he sucks at made up football stories or a bunch of you have a hook in your mouth.

Not only that, but college teams are, I believe, allowed to carry more players on their roster than NFL teams. She could be brought on just as a field goal/PAT kicker, and never have to worry at all about making tackles.

That said, can anybody weigh in on how big she is? Keepers are generally among the bigger people on a soccer team. I'll bet she's at least 6' tall, if she hit the weight room, she might be able to get as big as some of the smaller special teams guys...
