I like the tiff with Richard Gere better, it just sounds so juvenile and petulant it's like toddlers in a car.

I'm dying to do another Rambo. He's in Arizona on the border. It will involve him going into Mexico. I don't think Rambo likes Mexicans.

Q: So will you kill him off?

A: Yeah.

I'd watch that. Rambo 4 was badass head-explosiony awesomeness.

Stallone gets a lot of shiat, and he admits he made some bad choices, but Cliffhanger and Demolition Man aren't one of them. Two of the best action movies ever made(and Demolition Man perfectly blended the comedy with the action). If they're on TV, they get watched. If I'm bored and got nothing to do, the DVD goes in.

Another prop for Stallone: People always complain about the horrible sequels we have gotten from our 80s flicks, you know, Indy 4, the prequels, whatever else people complain about.

Stallone pulled out a new Rocky AND a new Rambo and people for the most part loved them.

Eye of the tiger, baby. Thrill of the fight.

Cliffhanger is a giant piece of shiat. The "action" is ridiculous, the mountain and rock climbing even worse, and the portrayal of the female lead as a screaming ninny insulting.

And now we know Rambo throws flowers at the Terminator to act like an alpha male.

sigh

Yeah, while I love Demolition Man, Cliffhanger was not very good.

FTA: There had been close to 200,000 suicides by returning Vietnam vets.

Anyone know if that's accurate? it seems heartbreakingly big if it is.

Other than confirmation on the veracity of that 'factoid', Stallone seems like a pretty sharp cat with a decent view of what reality is and a bit of self-deprecation that I like.

Q: What about Rambo, your other iconic hero? In First Blood your performance is virtually silent-The Artist as action movie. It was based on a Canadian novel, directed by Canada's Ted Kotcheff, and shot in B.C. Are you some kind of closet Canadian?

A: I'm a lumberjack in hiding!

He's a lumberjack and that's ok

If he makes another Rambo movie, they might as well make it cartoon, they'll have to use so much CGI to make him look ambulatory.

Wow, that was the most readable interview in a long time. Considering how stupid he comes across, he's pretty intelligent. I also like how he realizes that his characters kind of got hijacked by political ideologues, but he didn't help matters by making the Rambo sequels.

I have to disagree about 'The Expendables' though... If it had been the only action movie at the time, maybe, but 'The Losers' and 'A-Team' beat out 'Expendables', in that order.

Loved Rocky, Rambo: First Blood, and Demolition Man though. Cliffhanger and CopLand weren't THAT bad, but 'Stop or my Mom Will Shoot!' should have gotten him drug out behind the barn with a 12-guage. To this day, I'm not sure how much of that movie I've actually sat through, it was that traumatic...

Only the first one was any good. I watched the latest, thinking he was getting back to roots, like he did with Rocky Balboa. Instead it was just a ridiculous exercise in CGI...

Stallone's interviews are always great.

The one he did in GQ from a couple years back is a favorite (new window). He knows who he is and the types of movies that he's cut out for... and those just happen to be the types of movies that I love.

I'd forgotten about that one, too... Anything with Marisa Tomei is worth watching.I think I DID watch that one at one point.

Cliffhanger rocks. John Lithgow is great and Michael Rooker does OK but it's not his best work.

As for the article, pleasant read! I didn't know Stallone was so well spoken.

I remember when Rocky Balboa came out a few years back. Parts 1 and 2 were always 2 of my favorite flicks (w/3 and 4 being somewhat guilty pleasures), but thought "Seriously? is this a joke?". Then I rented the dvd and was shocked at how good it was - best since the original.

Man though, reading about all of those movies he turned down it's hard to believe he became the icon he did.

Apparently, the interviewer has a major hard on for Canadians. My reply. Go f*ck yourself redneck.

Oddly enough, moderate Republicans are hard to find these days, because nutcase Republicans have driven them underground. It's interesting to realize that people can have opinions that cross the aisle, so to speak, on a variety of issues. It's almost as if the world isn't black and white, cut and dried, us and them.

A pissed off Rambo going over the border to take care of the Mexican Drug/Gang wars single-handedly?

TAKE MY MONEY NOW. ALL OF IT.

Stallone is hilarious and awesome. Rambo was an 80s masterpiece that just happened to be released in 2008.
