The first rule of pregnant club is nobody mentions pregnant club.

2012-03-07 11:23:22 PM
the administrators not keeping their mouths closed isn't the problem, the problem is the slut not keeping her legs closed.

You see how one prevents the other from occurring?

her and her parent should be ashamed. She didn't want anybody to know? Yeah, good luck hiding that baby bump. Kids would've been talking shiat and rumors would've been flying, the school prevented that from occurring.

Yes, use her as an example, that your actions have consequences. If she thinks she's adult enough to have sex, then welcome to the adult world of having to live with the decisions that you've made.

MBK: Remember, if you ban birth control or make it more difficult to obtain, everyone will stop having sex until they are married.

Which is what the fundies want. They can't STAND the thought of other people being able to do something that their religion forbids them from doing. They won't be happy until everybody else is as miserable and repressed as they are.

Look at the republican party. Each and every one of their presidential candidates are either religious extremists, or beholden to them.

So, the answer to your question, apparently, is yes.

You're up here in the PNW. Did you know that QFC has been importing fresh Hatch green chili (and frozen, but meh) for the past couple of years? When in season, of course.

Kind of blew my mind to be smelling roasting Hatch chili and fresh Seattle rain in my back yard at the same time. I recommend it.

Sex education was 9th grade. I'm pretty sure most parents wouldn't consider contraception until high school, saying that as a parent with a kid in middle school.

I have a dream. I want to compose a simple test dealing with key Federal and Supreme Court lawsuits that cover student rights (for example, one question would be, True or False, you can kick out a student who is pregnant?) and I will travel the country giving this test to school administrators. Those that fail will then be beaten with a hard-cover book containing all of these cases. For those who fail the test it can be assumed that they were incapable of learning through normal means so maybe learning through osmosis will work.

Seriously, how the hell do so many schools continually fark up on constitutional rights of their students? The number of landmark cases that are relevant are not that many, only a few dozen, and many of those cover similar topics (such as prayer in school). Every principal in the country should be required to take a course on the United States Constitution and how it applies to students and schools.

Many administrators I've seen still have the "You're in my school, you have no rights" mentality. It doesn't seem any different to them than the ability to search cars on school grounds without probable cause.

Well, she shouldn't have been a little 8th-grade slut.

2012-03-07 11:33:35 PM
If someone treated my daughter like that I would be spending some time in jail, if I got caught. I don't care what anyone else's beliefs are. They are a non factor in my life or my kids. If they are a school administrator they are hired to educate kids. Not to force kids to have the same morals as them. They would get an after hours visit from me for something like this. There is no excuse for talking about a students private sexual life. If they are 11 in grade school or 22 in college. It's none of the teachers business. The parents should have done more to keep their child from getting pregnant this young but that has nothing to do with the schools responsibility to the privacy of it's students.

I'm Catholic and go to church every week. I think gay marriage should be legal, that abortion is a woman's decision, and that the church needs to stay out of the governments decisions. If the church wants to lobby for laws then they can stop getting my money and start paying taxes. The bible was written by men. Men who wanted to keep control of what they had and wanted things to never change. God is not an asshole like the dicks that wrote the bible. Why would an all powerful all knowing being give 2 farks if a woman wanted to be a teacher or if two men wanted to spend their lives together. He can create the universe but he gives a damn if you have sex with a woman on her period or if you get a tattoo or shave your beard. The bottom line is that if God is real he doesn't care what people do as long as they are good to each other and treat themselves and others with respect. Why would he want a staff member at a school to call out a girl for being pregnant?

Every person that reads a religious text sees what they want to see in it. They pick and choose what they want to believe. It's time to put a heavy hand on the issue of separation of church and state. Shut it down.

This country was founded to be fair and equal to all. If you want to live in a country ruled by a theocracy move to Iran.

GAT_00: Runs_With_Scissors_: Is this horrifying, or what?

Did we skip back in time a hundred years?

That or we suddenly changed to Saudi Arabia. Theocracy is theocracy, and the Christian ones are worse because that's what we'll have here.

Give an example of a major government that was a Christian theocracy anytime, anyplace. Sure there's been religious persecution against non-Christians. Sure there's been kings who claimed to rule by the grace of God.

Look for one in the modern world and the best you'll find are countries like Malta and Monaco. Unlike Islam, there is fundamentlally no Christian impulse to create theocratic governments.

Christianity doesn't promote ritual shaming of unwed mothers either.
Unfortunately, what Catholicism seems to promote is sheltering of criminal priests who abuse their flocks.

Regressive Puritans want the 1600's back.

Can the Puritans be blamed for this one since everyone involved is Native American and the purpose of the school is not only to educate children but to keep the Navajo culture alive?

Do the Navajos slut shame?

WTF? First, I thought there was video of the assembly. Assuming their story is correct, WTF? They want to hang some scarlet letter on her? It's fine to teach that sex that young can have horrible consequences, but WTF? I'm just all WTF about this. And does that baby have a cleft lip? I'd contribute to a fund for the operation.

Education is the first step. And yes, education begins at home. But when it's all failed to prevent babby, you can't put the babby back in with some smear campaign. There is no fix in the campaign room!

Really? C'mon, man.

lohphat: Regressive Puritans want the 1600's back.

Except that the Puritans were total fu*k machines, just like the rest of us pleasure-driven mammals. They actually had pretty ambivalent attitudes about sex before marriage, fu*king in public and the like.

The Regressive Puritans want a place back that never existed. They want Father Knows Best.

Um, the puritans had very negative attitudes about all those things, they were just a lot better at lying to themselves.

See, you live on a farm and the weird kinky shiat you get up to doesn't wake the neighbors. And sure most weddings were of the shotgun variety but you always lied to your kids and everyone else about it afterwards and it was never entered into the public record even though it was an item of gossip haunting you to your grave. It's like the Catholic slut, she farks like crazy then confesses and begs forgiveness then maybe has an abortion in Mexico but she never admits sex is fun and okay.

And you're right, the regressives DO want a time that never existed, but it's more complicated than that. The regressives claim to want what puritans claimed they had, what they actually want is what the puritans actually had (women as property, control through theocracy, more than a little polygamy for the slave-owning rich "alphas") .

I'm chalking this up to a big gay conspiracy. No hear me out: You remove access to contraceptives and shame women for getting pregnant. Solution, lesbianism. Meanwhile all the young men are encouraged to go out and have all the sex they want with no shame or consequences, only there are no women available. Who will will help these poor blue balled boys out? Respectable closeted republican men. Tell me the flaw in this.
