enry: I watched the speeches from Newt, Santorum, and Romney last night. Here's a sum:

Newt: Like a 4 year old that just learned to use the potty and wants to show you the dooty he made. He's real proud of it, but anyone with two brain cells to rub together realizes it's not that big a deal. You just hope he remembers to flush.

Santorum: My wife nearly threw the bottle of wine at the TV. Muttered the occasional "Wat? That's a lie"

Romney: Wife glad she didn't chuck the bottle so she had something to drink. Muttered the occasional "f'ing asshole"

Awesome. Just shot coffee up into my nose. That farking hurts, man.

Romney won the nomination last night. It's not in the media/democrats narrative yet because the president still wants them to talk birth control.

Mitt Romney is not a weak candidate. The guy is a Massachusets Republican who is winning in places he shouldn't. He is also quietly getting better as a candidate every day. I didn't care for him much at first....but the more I see of him the more I like. He will be very formidable and the president will need not only his A-game but some luck to beat him.

Barack Obama has a history of overpromising and underdelivering....and he's doing it again. This arrogance could be his undoing.

That sums up why I'm voting Santorum if he's still in it when WI gets our turn. If he gets the nom this should be a clear defeat that will tell the GOP to knock it off with this social wedge issue shiat. If afterwards he somehow wins the Presidency, I'm outta here because that's a clear indicator this country is beyond the brink.

SpectroBoy: This KEEPS happening to them. Why do they keep creating them?!?!?

Well, at first they had a problem with pigeons, see? So they released some tree lizards to take care of those. But the lizards proved to be a bigger problem, so then they released the Chinese rattlesnakes so take care of the lizards.

Now we're just waiting for the gorillas - who were employed to take care of the snake problem - to freeze to death. Too bad it's been such a warm winter...

Stoker Religion....

That's not going to be much of an issue this year. Economics and things like Obamacare will carry the day. The Bigots on the left and Zealots on the right will carry some water for their relative bases but the big issue at this point and time in history is our economic future, healthcare, national debt, ect....

MFL: Mitt Romney is not a weak candidate. The guy is a Massachusets Republican who is winning in places he shouldn't.

.... and losing in places he should win handily. He's uncharismatic, clueless about how his comments affect the working class, and has to defend an outright anti-conservative record in leading a blue state. He's got more flip-flopping problems than Kerry could even count, and the South is outright hostile toward him.

And that's all before he has to take on Obama, who will turn on the campaign machine again, give a hundred incredible speeches, maul in him debates, all on the backdrop of an improving economy (whether or not his actions contributed to the improvement). Unless something big changes soon, Romney will be lucky to break 40% of the popular vote. Republican apathy is trending up, and it's not looking good for anyone with an (R) next to their name.

Look at that man's face. That is the face of a man who has given up hope.

I love watching him get beat up. It's just funny as hell.

The worst part is that he legitimately seems to lack any sort of introspection about it all. If you were to ask Mitt Romney why he wasn't doing well, he'd undoubtedly blame lack of exposure rather than the fact that he doesn't know why he wants to be goddamn president. Santorum and Gingrich both know. Gingrich wants to be king and Santorum wants to be Bishop of America. Romney just wants the investment opportunity and I think he's starting to realize it's not worth it.

I think he just wants to president. You're right that he doesn't know why. If he ever did, I think he's forgotten. But at some point, it was decided it would be Mitt. I don't know if it was a GOP decision, a Mormon decision, or what, but some group of people decided Mitt Romney was going to be President, and he wanted it. It's a fixation on the office, but there's no reason behind it.

I also think he's just not very smart. He's not. He was born to privilege and bred to be the embodiment of blue-blood capitalism, and he's good at that, but his failure to empathize with anyone not gorging on unicorn steak is derived, in my opinion, from idiocy more than anything else. I know he's dealing with a ridiculously obstinate electorate, but I really think a more competent candidate could put some of the concerns surrounding him to rest.

MFL: I can sum up his presidency in two words.....Chevy Volt.

Well, with the democrats Clinton and Obama were still very much locked-horns through Super Tuesday and in fact, Clinton won more states than Obama during Super Tuesday but it didn't amount to much.

I'm not really sure how this is any different. Ron Paul and Newt are just hanging around for the hell of it.

Why do you think losing will make them less rabid? They will double down. Dont make the mistake of imagining that these people think like you do. They have a narrative of victimhood. Losing the election can only strengthen that. These are not rational people they are zealots intent on locking away all the pussy where no one can get at it. Not even the women who own them.

They hate each other and represent three factions of the Republican party: Country clubbers, Fundies, and Marshmallow Men. Their SuperPACs have made ugly ads about each other and it has hurt their widdle feelings so they will not be able to work together.
