IronTom: crypticsatellite: When I first spoke with the funeral home trying to figure out if their obit was our oldebayer, they mentioned that he was an author...and when I spoke with his cousin, I forgot to ask because I was too overwhelmed after confirming that it was him.

I'll have to ask her about it.

That would be so awesome. I loved to read his posts, his other works should be great!

What I'm finding initially is some hardcore chemistry stuff...

Oldebayer lived in south east New Mexico, my guess is Hobbes. Perhaps he was a petroleum engineer.

Not in Hobbes.

I'll ask his cousin; she was going to send me some pictures once she gets a handle on things (she had her Mom die, oldebayer's Mom die, and now oldebayer himself all within 9 months).

Noooooo!!! :( I always loved Oldebayer's posts. So sorry to hear of his passing. RIP Fark buddy.

Oldebayer once said where he lived was smelly. My thoughts went to Hobbs. (corrected spelling).

Another OldeBayer drink recipe:

(BTW, I wish I had copied down his meal ideas as they sounded great too. I did learn his Little Toe theory that he used to explain gravity, which I'll try to explain here, all errors are mine: Space consists of 3d corpuscles of space that compress to push down on things more where there is mass, and it causes gravity, while up in space there is less to push down on the corpuscles and there is less pressure and less or zero gravity.

Ob oldebayer drink:

Red Vermouth bottle said to mix with apple juice, so I did. Not bad. Better with a tot of rum.

We used to drive out to a farm in Autumn, and get real cider in big glass jugs.

This apple juice + red vermouth + rum isn't bad at all, especially with a sprinkle of cinammon sugar. The vermouth gives it just a hint of bitterness, which the cinammon suger nicely complements

I've been tweaking that apple juice + red vermouth + rum thing, the Things to Come or Granny Redrum. It is very promising. I need a lot more experimentation with the proportions. Right now it looks like six ounce apple juice, two ounces of rum (some non-Scotch whisky could be substituted, I'd bet), and 3/4 to one ounce of red vermouth, with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.
...
I had Calvados a couple of times in Normandy. The stuff is totally awesome, but too 'spensive here.

Actually, there, too.

saving his penultimate drink for a little later:

I hope we all go out with a Fark thread using our passing as fodder for humor. It's the only way those left behind can maintain any semblance of sanity.

I'll hoist a glass or eleven Thursday night in Oldebayer's honor at the Dallas Fark party..

Hello, everyone - sorry I'm late. Had to work over.

Rest in peace, my dear oldebayer, and may perpetual light shine upon you. I'm making a nice, tender beef rib roast on the bone with Low Carb faux yorkshire puddings, locally sourced creamy butter, nice, plump, juicy asparagus, and a nice lemony hollandaise in your honor.

Wow, he would love that. I had, um, nice wheat pasta with fresh green asparagus and freshly-opened Ragu Alfredo sauce. I can't do it. I can't make food sound as good as you can or oldebayer could.

I'm just a lurker but I always wondered if it was Old e-Bay er or Olde Bayer the classic English aspirin. I guess I'll never know. He seemed like a nice guy.

Well shiat, passed away on my birthday :(

Not that it isn't sad regardless.

I remember him from way back. He sounded like the kind of person I'd like to have shared a glass or two with. Even when he was giving someone the gears, he had a way of being gracious about it. So long.

Thanks. Although i did tend to overuse "nice", lol.

Oldebayer and I would compare notes every time about what was for dinner, and trade recipe ideas. He was a good egg, that man. I will miss him.

He definitely liked Woot, but he probably did a lot of eBaying too, and that would be like him to make his name that way.

One day he and I both bought the frozen truffle butter from Woot. It is really good. Both white truffle and black truffle.
