Not all of them. Just most of them. In like ten years we'll be able to look back and pick out the four or five anti-gay Republican politicians that weren't forcibly outed.

Why is having gay sex the basis for a $1M lawsuit?

Because if everyone who has gay sex gets $1M, I think there will be a significant uptick.

I think it was the fact that acting in an offical role as a Sherrif he threatened to have him deported if he told people about thier relationship.

And on top of that didn't the "Mexican Immigrant" come to the U.S. illegally??

They are very against that too.

Politicians are all the same, tell you what you want to hear, get elected, then you're asked to bend over for the State mandated "thank you".

Yeah, not exactly a handsome couple.

But even if you take the gay out of the situation, this is as stupid as John Edwards. "Hey, I have a great idea! Why don't I have a sexual relationship that could cost me an election and my future credibility?!"

This guy would probably have lost if he were out of the closet from the start. But now he's going to lose, and look like an asshole.

Now gay guys working for Santoram or Gingrich? They have deep problems.

He wasn't out from the beginning of the campaign. I'm not sure how that fact got out, but it might have something to do with his sister.

And here he is on gay marriage and DADT. In short, pro gay.

This guy needs to be honest with himself (again), there's no way in hell a state full of elderly republicans is going to elect what they consider to be an abomination. Unless he's running against a lobster, he doesn't stand a chance.

And yes, almost all Republicans who are vehemently anti-gay are actually gay. Or more to the point, they've had gay 'curiosity' or fantasies which are completely normal and sexually healthy within the human experience, but since they've spent all their lives having 'gay = God hates you' driven into their brains, they have a complete inability to face and analyze those feelings. And since they're confining sexuality to religious definitions, they ignore the scientific perspective that 'gay' and 'straight' are two polar ends of a vary large gradient scale of sexuality that we find ourselves on. So they figure 'well, if I thought about doing it with a dude, that means I'm gay' and then the dance of repression begins. Self loathing rises day by day, and the hatred of self gets projected onto others that mirror the 'sin', until 'TA-DA!', you're one of the **many closeted, Christian Republicans out there.

**When I say 'many', it's probably in the millions.

Scandal in my home town tops this story.

Police Sargent has "fraudulent marriage" to help Brazilian man get a citizenship, then Sarge gets a sex change, marries another woman and is later brought up on charges of a murder for hire. This shiat is weirder than a mexican soap opera!

I don't think this is necessarily going to cost him the election. His district isn't exactly your typical Bible Belt kind of republican. He was actually the first Republican sheriff elected to his his county since who knows when, and the last openly gay Republican US congressman was from a nearby district in AZ.

He's even still doing pretty well outside the county where he was elected sheriff:

Everyone in every party is expected to be in 100% agreement with their party line then? And it's impossible to consider that anyone who disagrees with any portion of their party line could ever want to change or reform the party's stances from within?

That's interesting. But now it remains to be seen if the current 'scandal' will hurt him.

Amazing how strong the difference can be between districts.
