What WTF said.

A lot of eyes will be on Ohio which Santorum was leading in before Mitt's money machine ground him down cos of the whole "No Republican has ever won the WH w/o winning Ohio" thing.

End of the day Romney's inevitability will be asserted and it'll be all over but the shouting.

Not that they are gonna stop shouting any time soon, just sayin'.

Being a registered Democrat, I would probably cross the party line for Ron Paul, but none of the current front-runners other than that show anything but the most tenuous grasp on reality. Really the only reason I would vote Paul anyway has more to do with NORML actions than anything else. I also hate and distrust all politicians so I don't know why I cant just up and leave, find some abandoned rock somewhere inside the tropics, and form a sovereign nation of rational individuals.

2012-03-06 08:52:21 AM
I've got a brazillion errands to run today, but the only candidate that I'd vote for, took himself off the Republican ticket. I will be changing my registration today though, officially. I suppose I could cast a vote anyway, since I'm in Mass, but that sort of disingenuousness is not really my style.

This is a bad field, and we are a bad party for putting these lunkheads, liars, and crazies on the ticket, and damnation if I didn't want to vote for Roemer as a message to the leadership, but at this point, there's nothing really left for me.

The Crazy Train won. You can have them...

Bwahahahaha!!!

I considered voting for Santorum in GA for the lulz. I decided that doing so might endanger my hypothetical immortal soul, so I guess I'll just go vote for Obama. It will feel a bit better and high D participation in an uncontested primary may give them a sense of impending dread. Much like Santorum feels when his wife gets undressed.

this is going to be an awesome day no matter what

Remember, if you live in one of those 10 states, a vote for Santorum is a vote for freedom. Do with that indisputable fact as you will.

I'm predicting after today no one will have locked up the nomination and that this turd fight will continue at least through April.

ThatGuyFromTheInternet: I can guarantee RONPAUL!!!1!! will get at least one vote in Massachusetts.

And, once more, RON PAUL will get tromped because most of his support comes from crazies on the internet.

Ohio will go for Romney, I would be surprised at anything else. TN, Frothy, unfortunately. Too many brainless bible-thumpers.

It's like watching the US Olympic trials for marathon running.

In the end it doesn't matter, since the winner of this race is just going to get blown out by a Kenyan in the big one.

2012-03-06 09:20:57 AM
Both sides are Republican, so vote bad.

2012-03-06 09:20:59 AM
Too bad it's a closed primary here or I'd go vote for Santorum.

I still love that after their self professed 'worst president evar' that the best the GOP can give us is an Adulteror Authoritarian, a Theocratic Zealot, A racist economic know nothing, and the king of the flipfloppers.

Surely they could have done better then this. I wouldn't vote for any of those guys to run a 7-11, let alone a nation.

2012-03-06 09:23:35 AM
One vote for Obama, and one vote for Kucinich over the Toledo Blue Dog. And a vote for some Pepto after my flight because ugh I'm never doing quick breakfasts at Sheetz again.

2012-03-06 09:24:53 AM
It does seem the republican primary voters are being steered. If you look at the vote totals froth and man baby combined almost always top robotney in vote totals. Plus now you see a bunch of people who you wouldn't think would endorse romney doing so.

They know this long primary isn't working out well, that only works if you are telling people what they want to hear, not when your platform is built on racism, misogyny and tax breaks for the richest 1% of Americans. Regular people don't want to hear that shiat.

2012-03-06 09:24:56 AM
Oh, and can I just say that the way that the GOP primaries allocate delegates this cycle is totally f*cked up.

The thing is, though, none of these are winner-take-all. Romney could eek out a win, and still be only slightly ahead on delegate count.

It's a bit like nerds and the modern zombie craze. We romanticize it and even pretend that we would do well in it, but if it were to ever actually happen we'd all be dead in a week.

Don't discount the Santorumites in Virginia. They're very real and they're populous.

As far as the primary structure itself, I get the impression that this is a long-unchanged process which was built prior to the advent of social media in particular and the Internet in general. It really does need change on some level, because I can't help but see this as a circus.

seems every other commercial here in Oklahoma this morning is Romney or Gingrich. Haven't seen any Paul or Santorum ads. And can someone answer this for me. They keep running this ad where this guy is saying his daughter went missing and Romney supposedly shut down his company to help come and look for her. Part of me says, "how noble" but the bigger part is saying, yeah right he paid some people to go and look for her, if he even did that"

MFAWG: Angry Drunk Bureaucrat: Oh, and can I just say that the way that the GOP primaries allocate delegates this cycle is totally f*cked up.

If it was winner-take-all, yeah he'd be the nominee, but this proportional/congressional district apportionment system they have going just means that he has to fight for every vote. The longer it takes for anyone to come out as a clear favorite, (1) the more chances there are for someone to massively f*ck up, (2) the more people will get bored and/or angry, and (3) the more time Obama has to raise money.

If you're any candidate that's not Romney, you just get enough delegates to make sure no one can get the nomination outright and play power broker at the convention. (Which, honestly, would make for some good political theater.)

This is going to be fun to watch but I've got to avoid all my coworkers today. I work in an office filled with super right wing conservatives most of whom are upset they don't get to vote for a pizza man. The only one I would think about voting for is Ron Paul but I couldn't in all conscience vote for a man who denies evolution and climate change. Hearing him talk he almost sounds rational but so would any slightly crazy person next to the rest of the field. Underneath his almost rational speech hides a lot of crazy ideas.

Heh. Thats not entirely fair. You guys have had your time in the sun as the Florida champ more often than not. Its good to get ground into the field for a few seasons here and there, it makes it that much sweeter when your the one's doing the grinding.

I just wish they subsidized my Zombie Fort here in VA... I mean I live a mile or so way from a National Guard Armory that was constructed in a nice little valley, secluded and secure, and even though that's going to be the first place I end up in the event of an outbreak, it really WOULD be nice if the Government gave me a cool $1K yearly so i can just put up the fencing and guard posts outside my house. And a moat. And some shotguns. And a sniper rifle. And a chainsaw. etc. etc.
