I've seen this labelled as the same as what happened with Ed Schultz of MSNBC who did it on his radio show. I don't know if he did 3 days of 3 hours each and I don't know if he continued to say it after his apology.
I do know that looking at the Schultz apology vs the Limbaugh apology, that Limbaugh comes off looking bright and shiny because Schultz couldn't be bothered to take personal responsibility for his abuse of the language.
