Bucky Katt: Yeah, Chicago cops are famous for their subtlety.

they're too busy beating up bartendresses and shooting kids to worry about muslims.

As a Muslim, I'm horrified at the continued backlash against us after 9/11. It's been 10 and a half years, people. Inshallah, I would condemn myself to Hell if it would protect my Muslim brothers and sisters from the wrath of the Jesus idolaters.

Muslims are a danger to our freedoms. So is Christianity, for that matter. The Jews are okay, though. They just care about money.

The Doodletown Pipers?!? My mom went to school with them and I thought she was making that name up! LOL

members of your religion committed the most damaging terrorist attack in modern history, and you're horrified that law enforcement is keeping an eye on other members of the same religion? in the past 8 years, i've lived near 2 mosques that were found to be raising money for terrorist organizations!!

obviously not every muslim is a terrorist, and all of the muslims that i know just want to go about their daily lives, but you must admit that there is a large radical element that seems to have hijacked what we're repeatedly told is a peaceful religion.

where's the backlash in the muslim world at these radicals who are performing terrorism in the name of Allah? shouldn't that offend you more than police surveillance (which repeatedly finds muslims planning acts of terror, btw)??

reality is reality, and your religion has some major housekeeping to do to get rid of the extremists.

From the tone of your post, I think it is you who needs to consider who the actual extremist in this conversation is.

I've never heard that before. I thought they picked the name to moderinze the Jefferson Airplane title into the '80's. I would still listen to "Jane" or "Winds of Change" 100 times before putting on "25 or 6 to 4" once. I will not retract my comments!

You've got to be making some of those up.
However, Whitney "Houston" would have been the definitive answer.

Fascism requires an enemy to unite us all against in the name of taking away our freedoms and increasing government control, so unless you can come up with a viable alternative boogeyman, prepare for a long, bumpy ride.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm sure more than a few Arabs hate all Christians for the terroristic acts George W. Bush committed over there in the name of Christ.

i'm not christian, but thanks for playing.

i don't believe gods any more than i believe in santa claus: a nice lie to tell the kids to make them behave, but if you're an adult and still believe it, you're a bit nuts.

Join the police force, can't be worse than your Hell story and you could work to bring change from the inside while protecting your community. Plus, a more visible Muslim presence in the city would have the effect of human shields, making an argument for 9/11-style terrorists to select other targets.

This, a thousand times. P.S. Most of the 9/11 asshats were from Saudi Arabia, so S.A. needs to be bombed with buckets of pig entrails!

I see this commercial on TV all the time that shows a headline in a newspaper that says "4 out of 10 Americans are suspicious of Muslims". I don't know what the show is about because the dialogue is all in Arabic, but it is set in Dearborn, Mi so I imagine it's about Muslims in America and the struggles they go through. Anyway, the point is all this Muslim fear mongering just makes America look bad, every time I see that commercial I wonder how many Muslims just read that same headline and now think less of every American they come in contact with.

There actually wasn't much backlash at all until 2006 or so when the political truce between the parties ended and they started playing politics again. On the plus side, this made the Dems considerably more sane and less authoritarian even as the GOP went completely nuts, so at least there's potentially a party to vote for instead of one that's slightly less evil now.

The city that decided to use it's resources somewhat wisely, instead of trying to look at everyone, even when they know for certain that not everyone is a suspect.

that one is iffy and depends on a number of definitions that people don't always agree on.

however there is no doubt that the IRA used churches to raise money for it's fight. money that was raised here and sent to Ireland for guns and bombs.

all the (alleged) Christians shouting "religion of peace" really ought to do a bit of soul searching first.

Yup, the IRA used churches and taverns in Irish neighborhoods to raise cash. In fact, one of the biggest Islamophobes in Congress (Peter King R-New York) gave a shiatload of cash to the IRA. Mr. King of course did not reveal this information when he biatched about Chris Christie and Cory Booker not kissing the NYPD's ass.
