He wanst really that popular here in the US. IIRC he had a short WWF run in the mid 90s, and he really didn't amount to anything

I had stopped watching by the mid-90s. No memory of him.

One of his first matches. He was a house when he started. It wasn't until he went to All Japan that he lost some mass and learned to wrestle.

He did have a brief run in NWA/WCW in 88 or 89, but he never did anything of note. He did have the largest legs in wrestling at one point, made Kevin Sullivan look scrawny.

Furnas and LaFon were over in ECW, but they respected a lot of guys with good workrate.

I remember them from ECW, very sad. At least Parkinsons is not the usual wrestling death. So sorry for his family.

I don't get how they can call them boring, when they actually had some pretty impressive moves (that drop kick and powerslam was pretty impressive), while teams like the Powers of Pain were way more boring.

No gimmick to speak of, and they were in the WWF at an odd time... between the cartoon era and the attitude era.

If they had been there a year later, they may have been bigger. A Year earlier, they would have been saddled with a ridiculous gimmick, like the Bodydonnas or Smoking Gunns.

I thought it odd that their (Furnas and LaFon's) hook in WWE was trying to convince people that they were actually exciting because they were one of the most exciting teams when they were in WCW.

They were also members of Team "Canada" at the Survivor Series which had the distinction of featuring no Canadians. (Furnas, LaFon, Bulldog, Neidhart)

According to wiki, Phil LaFon is Canadian. But yeah, Furnas from Oklahoma, Anvil from Florida, and the Bulldog was.. well... British.

Sad. Very underrated wrestler. Wrong place, wrong time, otherwise he and LaFon could have been huge in America.

Dumb-Ass-Monkey: Sad. Very underrated wrestler. Wrong place, wrong time, otherwise he and LaFon could have been huge in America.

Most of the '96-'97 WWF Tag Teams got the shaft.

The Headbangers were never utilized properly, and eventually, were split up and one of them became Beaver Cleavage.

Furnas and Kroffat were just... there.

Legion of Doom were given Droz and forced into that horrible Drunken Hawk angle.

Bulldog and Owen were a makeshift team, at best.

The were also ALWAYS squash fodder.

Kane's wreckingball debut period was him dismantling the best tag teams AND the low ranking singles competitors, thus presenting the tag teams on that level.

I can't recall a period of "Strong tag teams" since the 80's.

'99-'01.Forgetting the teams that were just singles stars thrown together to win the belts (like the Rock and Sock connection, or the Two Man Power Trip), that period had the Hardys, the APA, The Dudleys, Edge and Christian, and the New Age Outlaws.

WCW had some good teams there too - Kronik, 3 Count (Yes, they were good, as wrestlers, yes the gimmick sucked) and the Filthy Animals (Rey-rey and Juvie) and ECW had RVD/Sabu, Impact Players and the FBI.
