haha yes, paying Homage to the Mel Brooks bit where he plays Hilter. These swastikas? Ugh, you are so ignorant! Those are Hindu Peace Signs that happen to be there. It's not his fault that the Germans are all hung up on this Nazi thing.

Oh, I don´t really keep up with Mel Brooks, or the Hoff for that matter.

But it was apparently a part from a Mel Brooks movie.

You might be thinking of 'tribute', which is more often used when an artist is dead, but neither term requires or even expects the artist to be deceased.

/hoping you're not making an obscure joke

Tsk. The level of cinematic ignorance in this thread is depressing. The Producers is about two guys who can't get a stage hit, so they take out a massive insurance policy against their next show failing, then do a play about Hitler for an all-Jewish audience. Most of the movie is crap - but the Springtime for Hitler routine is pretty good.

Here Link (new window) - educate yourselves. First four minutes.

He was doing "Springtime for Hitler" from The Producers. First a Mel Brooks film, then a Mel Brooks Broadway hit.

I haven't seen the theater version but in the original movie, there's a whole plot device with the main characters trying to produce the worst play possible so they can scam their investors (old ladies). They produce "Springtime for Hitler", an homage to Hitler by an insane old Nazi, because they think people will be so offended the play will bomb immediately.

Maybe you should double-check your own synopsis before calling out others on their "cinematic ignorance."

Poor guy. Always getting confused with Adolf Hitler. Adolph was actually fairly sympathetic.

Clearly I've been doing it wrong. I shouldn't be doing good things to be revered for decades... I should be doing horrible things to be re-introduced for almost a century (or more).
