Eisenhower was great, I would love to get back to someone like that, but the times are different and that is impossible for now. We are not experiencing anything like the post-war's amazing prosperity and growth at the moment. Nixon was a pretty goddamn good president, albeit a crook and a dick, and Ford was OK. Reagan was mostly better than Carter. And even though Reagan is the left's boogieman, the right making him near a saint is even stupider. He was just a man, people.

Man, if only the R's would take tricky Dick as their standard bearer instead of Reagan. Nixon signed in the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts, and the Endangered Species Act if I recall correctly. Most of the major environmental laws that the left clings to were signed in by Nixon.

Sadly there is not a single Republican today who would vote for or sign into law any of those Acts. They would instead actively fight against them as too restrictive to business and the flow of the almighty dollar.

Well I dunno. I think thats optimistic. The Dems are going to do well in spite of their tendency to fumble it. This over-reach by the Dominionists is going to breathe new life into the Dems. Women under 30 will come to the polls in record numbers. And they won't be voting for the old white dudes who call them whores. After that I don't know what happens but if the Dems prevent the Dominionists from making women into state managed breeders in Kansas and elsewhere they are going to have a very loyal voting block.

I hear ya. Take comfort. The pendulum always swings back and if my daughter and her friends are any indication it is the young women who will be driving the next wave of politics. They have plenty of energy and they are seriously pissed off. They have found a focus for their frustrations. They are adept at social media and organizing. They do better in all school subjects than their male counterparts and have no qualms about telling old white dudes to STFU.
