Hector Remarkable: Farking poetry, subby. Clooney's a good man.

Weirdly well-adjusted for hollywood, for sure. Him and Harrison Ford, how can people that mild-mannered exist and work in entertainment?

Also, a George Clooney thread seems to be a good place to find horny farkettes

frepnog: And it will when the under 30 crowd becomes the responsible adult crowd and the old bigots start dying out. The bigots are fighting a losing battle. And what's more, most of them know it... and THAT scares them, which is why they want to codify their bigotry while they still have the political power to do so.

i could believe this if religion was also dying out. except that it isn't, and the amount of young people that hold these views are substantial.

I know lots of religious people who have no problem with homosexuality. Jesus doesn't talk about it at all, and considering how much people already cherry pick what to take from their holy books, I don't doubt it'll just become something else most people ignore.

Will there still be bigots who use their holy books to justify their bigotry? Of course. They will become more of a minority just like churches who justified slavery became a minority as time went on and the generation that grew up thinking slavery was acceptable died out.

As I said before. Religion is not static. It changes as well, and if it doesn't people tend to just ignore it if they don't agree. How many Catholics do you know in North America who actually follow the Vatican's rules about birth control?

JohnnyApocalypse: frepnog, are you equivocating? are you just spending many posts begging to differ with mongbiohazard's assertion that young people are already much more open to accepting homosexuality than older generations, as he used a hyperbolic example?

or are you masking your own feelings on the subject by expressing some kind of concensus view via world religions?

by the way, a quick googling indicates that you are right that the two largest-membered religions are christianity and islam. i also think mongbiohazard's assertion that nobody under 25 cares by citing what happens at a particular college party isn't very statistically conclusive.

my own views don't really enter into it, honestly. i don't care if gays get married. i don't care if gays adopt, i don't care what gay people do, as I personally think everyone needs to get along and stay mostly out of people's personal business, and it doesn't get much more personal than who ya like to fark.

homosexuality just happens to be the one thing that most humans agree on, and most human agree that they don't like it. that is different than race, color, creed, religion, or any of the other stuff because the ONE thing that 99 percent of all humans do that is just like other humans is have sex.

All we need do is wait for the Boomers, and their parents, to croak. When that happens, you'll see the resistance to marriage equality largely vanish - it's simply a matter of time, and those knuckledraggers are going to resist every step of the way until they croak.

How exactly do you know that? When boomers were kids they were all free love hippy protesters, doing all kinds of drugs and farking everything that moved. Now they're just like their parents. Think about that for a minute.

Being gay is wrong, nasty, and shouldn't be accepted as much as it is...

Sorry.

But it's true.

Unless everyone here is farking their female partners in the ass and all the females here are allowing themselves to be farked in the ass.

Come on, people...that's where you shiat from. It's without a doubt, nasty.

frepnog: Boeheimian Rhapsody: frepnog: Boeheimian Rhapsody: frepnog:

Dude, I live in Alabama New York, and you are 100 percent, totally, unequivocally wrong right on that one. Hell, my brother sister is a pastor, he she is 24 years old, and is 100 percent against for homosexuality. I was also forced chose (due to bad marriage personal choices) to attend a non-denominational church for close to 7 years in TN - the pastor there was young, the congregation was almost totally under 30, and they all pretty much held that homosexuality is not immoral nor against "god's will".

nice, but doubtful. I'd bet even money that even in New York Alabama the average church pastor says being gay is wrong fine.

Anecdotal evidence does not make for a strong argument. Please try again.

who is arguing? find me a majority of New York people of religion, christian or otherwise that support gay marriage. or gay anything for that matter and show it.

/come on, let's see.

LOL @ T.rex.

Another cool thing I learned about Clooney when he was on Inside The Actors Studio recently. He and Don Cheadle were hanging out and wondering why there wasn't more photographic eveidence of atrocies in Syria or someplace. Like "Hey, I can google earth and see my damn backyard, why can't I see this?" So they have been raising about 3 million a year to keep a satellite active/taking pictures of that region and I guess he posts them up on his facebook. He said "The government can't do it because that would be spying, but, just some guy like me with a facebook can". And so they do. And he is so low key about this kind of thing. That was one of the best Actors Studio episodes EVAR.

Naturally... nor was it meant to be. But the statistics that have been posted in this thread are pretty conclusive. My anecdote was just for color.

As for the largest religious persuasions.... you left out atheist/agnostic. Atheism/Agnosticism is VERY popular in Asia. Around 60% of China is atheist/agnostic - and China alone is around 1/6 of world population - and many atheists identify themselves as Buddhists, Taoists, etc. when polled. Also many formerly religious members are still counted by their former faiths as members.

Worldwide, atheist/agnostic is one of the largest categories of religious persuasion.

srschatzer: Now wait a minute....

Didn't he play a gay dog on South Park years ago?

Fun fact: Clooney is the whole reason South park even exists. He was one of the recipients of an animated short Christmas card that a Hollywood producer commissioned from Parker and Stone. Reportedly he showed it to so many of his friends that irt made its way to an exec at Comedy Central, who after seeing it, made Parker and Stone a job offer

2008, Clooney was interviewed by some guy at Time.

Clooney not only went over to the guy's house for the interview but helped him track down a strange beeping noise that started during the interview. Clooney crawled into the guy's attic to help out.

^Time Magazine, 2008^

Classy guy, he is.

True fact: That card (the Jesus vs Santa one), was the funniest thing that has ever been produced in the history of mankind. It was better than "Frog Baseball," the very first Beavis and Butthead.

So, I was pumping in an empty office on my break at work (I'm breast-feeding my 7 month old) when I read this headline and laughed so hard I startled my co-workers on the other side of the door. Touche, subby, touche.

That said, Clooney seems like a cool guy and a decent human being and I wish more people shared that "Live and let be" attitude.

This should be a HOTY candidate.

Why, religion of course. how dare someone believe what you don't.

You'd think Clooney would sue every one who called him gay. But, he hasn't. So, good on him.

/He didn't need a couple of tin cans to get his shiat together either.

See not getting married has kept him mentally sane. I will follow his example, uh, mostly. At least as well as I can manage given the obvious lack of good looks.

2012-03-02 08:53:49 AM

mongbiohazard: The other flaw is that those 31 states used to be 50 states. The trend for gay marriage legalization is in FAVOR of gay marriage, not the other way around. In fact, my own state just legalized gay marriage as well.

your own legislators did. it's going to be a long time, if ever, before gay marriage is actually "popular", that is, that it would pass a referendum as was voted down in those 31 states. note that the other 19 states are not "pro-gay marriage" as you moronically imply, but rather have not had the issue raised to a referendum. regardless of what you think your "representative group" consisting of your sister's friends thinks, i'm pretty sure that the average 15 year old boy would rather his peers think him retarded than homosexual .

/pro-gay marriage---they should suffer as much as anyone!

I like the "he can't be gay - look who he's farked" arguments. Tell that to the wives of Rock Hudson, Elton John, Barack Obama, Anthony Perkins, Abraham Lincoln, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and millions of lesser know people.
