"National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance"

WTF? Are they kidding? They can go piss up a rope. Obesity is quickly becoming a public health crisis and we have teenagers having heart attacks. I don't want to stigmatize fat kids because that just makes the matter worse. But I will not accept their obesity. Damn it; I have to pay for it.

2012-03-01 10:45:53 AM
You know, maybe my life would have turned out different if i had this horrible stigmatizing view of my future. Instead of going to Disney and idolizing Winnie the Pooh. Pretty sure he was just some fat burn out stoner who eats all day and does nothing. He hangs out with a depressed guy who did way too much coke at one point in his life so he always sounds like he's tired as shiat.

Maybe another in another life...

Disney realized something needed to be done when they had to build a nuclear plant to power the Peoplemover.

Digitalstrange: You are also a moron. Obesity does have genetic causes and predispositions.

How, then, does one explain the sudden explosion in obesity which began in the mid-1990s? I suppose it's not impossible that some sort of ecological disaster around that time caused the genes of thousands of people to mutate in the exact ways that would cause this sorts of thing, but it doesn't seem likely. Far more probably is that genetic causes have nothing to do with the predicament we find ourselves in today, and that it can only account for a number of people roughly corresponding to pre-epidemic obesity rates: in other words, a small minority of modern cases.

Doc Daneeka: I saw more morbidly obese people riding around on motorized scooters in one week at Disney World than I have in the whole rest of my life put together.

I don't know what it is about that place.

It's not as bad at Universal. I blame kids.

There is a big difference between someone who is large-sized and someone who is fat.

Your farking organization is named Fat acceptence. Fark off.

You're totally right. I live around here so I have nieces and nephews (thankfully no kids of my own) who come down who I take to Disney and Universal and I still go myself with friends on Halloween especially when Universal does the horror night thing but I've definitely noticed an increase in fat bastards in hover rounds and just the average weight in general has increased ten-fold.

I've noticed that they've even closed some rides and re-tooled them to accommodate their plus-sized guests. Another relatively new thing they have are sample seats at the start of every line so you can sit in it to see if you'll be able to fit on the ride before you get in line. I'm actually somewhat underweight and I almost fell out of a ride because it had a restraint that was just one bar that went across the entire row and there were fatasses around me. But that was a long time ago, they don't have that anymore.

And again, it's not just Americans. So don't just blame us.

a big 'hats off' to all you self-proclaimed wonderful parents that had to rush in to tell all how your children are slender and properly nourished. everyone is impressed that you can do what should be standard fare for child rearing.

meanwhile there is a crapload of parents & guardians that are not as intelligent, educated, self-aware or caring as you are, and their little chubby children suffer for the bad habits passed upon them.

this is one more example of how not everyone is qualified to be a parent but they are any way. but as long as you got yours, who gives a damn. not your problem.

this is what happened to me when i went to Disneyland. i'm still trying to work it out in therapy years later:

She suggests perhaps a medium-size teen at a computer terminal for not enough exercise, or a thin youth wolfing down lunch on the run for gluttony.

Yes this is a great way to boost the self esteem of all those fat kids. Show them other people doing the same activities they do while not gaining weight. I've got news for that broad. The skinny person eating fast food on the go will likely hit the gym later to run it off (or they'll go the bulimic route) and the average sized person at the computer actually gets enough exercise which is why they're not obese.

Disney needs to take a stand against fatties. I suggest a more drastic retooling. They need to convert it into a theater that shows videos of fat park guests getting on and off rides with the occasional clip of park EMT's giving oxygen to a land barge that had a near heart attack transferring from their ECV to a restaurant.

Ironically, the dog has never been fat, just full of energy. If he doesn't get run (not walked, RUN) for at least an hour every other day he goes completely insane and stops listening to most commands because he goes into that "tunnel vision" mode of excitement that so many labs get into.

In fact, I had to switch vets because my dog's first vet kept passive-aggressively accusing me of starving my lab by saying things like: "oh poor puppy, is your master not feeding you good food?" For fark's sake, the dog costs more to feed than I do. He's 100lbs, which is way above the breed standard for a purebred lab, but he's lean as a greyhound. You can see his ribs, and I've gotten to the point of free-feeding him just to be sure I'm not accidentally under-feeding him. He has no food allergies that can be detected, he just has really weird eating habits. He'll go two or three days without needing his dish refilled, then eats 2 or 3 dishes in a day. Strange dog LOL.

Yeah....fat people like to say that a lot.

For every 1% that have a true, medical condition for it, there are the 99% that shove pizza, ice cream and ho-hos down their offsprings' gullets as they huff and puff their way from the kitchen to the X-Box room. Unfortunately, the 99% try all claim that they are somehow part of the medically induced 1%.

My ex wife worked at Epcot and had her foot ran over by a heavy-heavy on a electric whatever-they-call-them. Strangely, she sprained her other ankle because she stepped back out-of-balance. Worker's comp, physical therepy, etc. Comes back to work on light duty and managers managed to violate her Dr's order to not stand for more than 10min/hr. Several call-outs later for additional Dr visits and pain, they force her to quit or be fired. Worker's comp/ personal injury lawyer helped settle the matter. Would you believe that Disney would turn down allowing a cast member to return to work in lieu of a cash settlement??

Anyway, fatties get no sympathy from me.

I'll buy that metabolism or genetics can cause people to be overweight to a degree. But there's a level of obesity where simple laws of thermodynamics have to take over. Matter in your body just doesn't appear. It has to come from somewhere. And that somewhere is your pie hole.

Fat people defending fat people for being fat.

For some reason I think the "Organizaton of Fat People Protecting the Rights of Other Fat People to be Fat" are not concerned about the health of fat people. Rather, they are concerned with, "Don't make fun of me because I'm fat!!".

"Any fat person trying to be less fat is a traitor to all fat people who want to continue being fat!!!"

Discrimination is bad, but the "fat acceptance" folks have either forgotten the difference between helping people and enabling them, or -perhaps worse- they know exactly what they're doing and really are just looking for enablers.

MadHatter500: Mugato: For the love of Christ.

I've been to EPCOT. Disney in general has some of the most grotesque, morbidly obese specimens I've seen in my life. And they're not all American. In fact when I do hear them speak to order another $20 waffle cone, they're mostly European. Shame on EPCOT for caving into those fat farks.

Just spent a week in the Orlando Disney parks - first time back in 10 years.

What struck me at the parks was how many more fat lazy bastards there were. Wasn't a single minute execpt on the monorail were I couldn't see a morbidly obese person on a hoveround "personal transport". That and the number of strollers - even kids in the 5-7 year old range had strollers. Outside many attractions was now a "parking lot" full of both strollers and electric fat movers.

Guess we're just getting 'em used to never moving around for themselves - got to prepare the next generation of hoveround fatasses.

Heh, my annual vacation to places like this are the reason I stay on my exercise program, not so good about the diet. Looking at the people who are bigger then me, and I'm 6', 270 pounds makes me come back from vacation and work harder.

If you need some inspiration to stay on an exercise program look up 23 1/2 hours on U-Tube.

They should have a Paula Dean exhibition.

2012-03-01 11:23:36 AM
I understand not openly mocking fat people, but consider these two scenarios:

1. Fat person goes to an exhibit extolling the virtues of a healthy diet and exercise, possibly drawing minor public attention to the fact that said patron is overweight, and it inspires them to adopt a healthier lifestyle for themselves and for their kids.

OR

2. Fat person goes to the ER with chest pains (at age 28), has a BMI of 100.2, and you have to use the thigh cuff (the one meant for amputees) to take their blood pressure on their arm because the "extra large" size doesn't fit.

Which one provides the fat person with more "dignity"?

BalugaJoe: They should have a Paula Dean exhibition.

That is in Tunica, Mississippi. They have a Paula Dean restaurant in one of those casino's, Harrah's I think, which is always packed by lard asses. Frankly I think the sports bar in there has better food, but then when eating out I trend toward rare steak, baked potato, and some other vegetable or sushi.
