I was wondering what the headline for this would be, was expecting something about a locker.

I laughed. Good job Subby.

I still think Ringo was one of the world's first drum machines...

I'm 29, and I know who the Monkees are. Helps having parents who are Baby Boomers. There's this great new invention out there right now called "the Internet" and it helps you listen to music/artists that were well before your time. I know who Rosemary Clooney is, and my grandparents used to listen to her when they were newly married.

who was elvis? he was like waaaay before my time.

Jimi Hendrix used to open for the Monkees. At least once, anyway. This is a sad day, Davy Jones was great. Why couldn't it be the Black Eyed Peas instead?

Nor did the Beach Boys, or pretty much any famous American group before the late-1960s.

/note that I said "American", so don't give me shiat about how the Beatles and Rolling Stones played all their own stuff.

That's probably because he's only heard their cover, which was part of the "Shrek" soundtrack.

Having said that, my son is 31 and knows who the Monkees are.

Paul McCartney wanted to dominate the music business.
John Lennon wanted to change the world.
George Harrison wanted to be a great musician.
Ringo Starr wanted to party and pick up chicks.

I think Ringo won.

I has a sad. Totally unexpected. I'm a huge Monkees fan (turning 27 this year), and normally wouldn't give two shiats about a celeb dying, but this upsets me. Think I'll be watching Head tonight, and listening to Monkees songs on my commute home.

Davy Jones made more little girls wet than the Beatles, Justin Timberlake and what's his face Bieber combined. I can't imagine the incredible amount of trim he must have enjoyed in his lifetime.
R.I.P. pop singer. Hope the next reality is just as good to you as this one was.

I hated Janet because she was a loveless joyless c***.

Bathia_Mapes: Having said that, my son is 31 and knows who the Monkees are.

I'm 31, and remember when Nick at Nite used to show reruns of their television show, and I thought it was hilarious. Also saw them at Candlestick park in '97 before a Giants game. You've all seen the highlight where Bonds hits a homer and then pirouettes at home plate before rounding the bases, well, this was the game he did that.

I definitely consider myself a Monkees fan, and am saddened by this news.
