I don't know where to even begin with this.

Then they'll use those thingies that seal it like for bubble tea. That's a silly law.

The Baton Rouge lawmaker wants to remove the straw hole to make it harder for drive-through daiquiri customers to put a straw in their drink while they drive to their destination.

What a dick! How about I glue your peehole shut?

2012-02-29 12:47:29 PM
Well what the hell. Why would I bother driving through a daiquiri place if I didn't want to drink it right away?

hillbillypharmacist: Well what the hell. Why would I bother driving through a daiquiri place if I didn't want to drink it right away?

No shiat.

I want my representative to propose legislation that all daquiris at drive thrus be sold in foam domes.

If you outlaw strawholes, only outlaws will have strawholes kept handy in their glove compartment that they'll reach over to grab while maneuvering a 2-ton metal weapon, drunk, out of the parking lot.

2012-02-29 01:41:17 PM
I guess that is why they electrical tape the caps shut on my growlers. Like I'm going to be driving home while sipping craft beer from a 64oz jug.

2012-02-29 01:44:20 PM
That's a sound law that will stop drink daiquiris and driving in its tracks, and if we're lucky, stop drivers from bombing their storage depots during supper time.

Though who thought it would be a good idea to have such a thing in the first place. How the hell did the first person explain this at the bank for a loan?

2012-02-29 02:35:56 PM
Silly law is silly but daiquiris are serious business.

/So the doctor says to the bartender: That's not my normal walnut daiquiri wth is that?
//Bartender sez: Sorry, we ran outta walnuts, that's a hickory daiquiri, Doc.
///And on that note...

Louisiana is in a race to be a dumber state than Florida and Texas.

do these daiquiries have alcohol in them? so if you drive through, get a daiquiry, put the straw in you have an open container of an alcoholic beverage in your car while you are driving?

2012-02-29 03:21:57 PM
Well that should eliminate the drunk driving problem. Its so difficult to whip out the Leatherman and put a quick X in a plastic lid.

2012-02-29 03:22:50 PM
But if they have to take the lid off to drink their is more chance of spillage, that could cause an accident.

2012-02-29 03:26:32 PM
But but...I love getting my drive-though daiquiri with the tape just off center so I can start drinking it when I pull out of the parking lot.

My question too. Not being from the south, my only experience with this is "open container==illegal".

Drive through daiquiries... Maybe I need to visit the South....

How many ounces in that bottm, bucket size in the picture?

2012-02-29 03:29:33 PM
Well, fark it.

1) drive up
2) buy daiquiri
3) dont move
4) cut hole for straw
5) drink
6) pass out
7) blame jeebus

2012-02-29 03:29:43 PM
Goddammit! They're trying to squeeze all the uniqueness out of Louisiana. They made the drinking age 21 like everywhere else and now this? Bullshiat.

2012-02-29 03:29:52 PM
Yeah, the problem is totally the holes in the lids, not the 'drive-through' aspect of the stands. That can stay.

As suggested earlier, I'm guessing we begin by taking legislators and gluing their urethras shut.

That's why they put a little piece of scotch tape over the straw hole. Duh.

2012-02-29 03:33:33 PM
Well, they do tape the lid down already. How much safer can you get?

Yes they have alcohol in them and it is all legal till you put your staw in the drink. Then it becomes a open container. They are "required" to put some tape over the hole of the lid but every place around me puts it off center so you can still get your straw in.

2012-02-29 03:34:35 PM
Let's assume these are alcoholic for a second. Once you buy one in a drive-thru it starts to melt. By the time you're home your daiquiri is melted and no longer consumable by most sane people. However, if there is a straw hole at the top, you now have an open container of alcohol. lose-lose.
And if it's non-alcoholic, wtf is this bill for?

What's all this fuss I hear about banning ho's from drive through daiquiri stands? If a ho wants a delicious and cool drink, they should be able to get one just like anyone else. No my good friend Jane, some might call her a ho because of all the men who visit her in her dressing room. I hear all kinds of noises going on in there when her and her men friends are in there. I guess she's got a donkey in there 'cause I hear her yelling "Put in the a..."

Rosanna! It's "Holes! Holes in the caps! Straw holes in the caps of the cups that drive through daiquiri stores use."

"Oh. Never mind"

2012-02-29 03:37:52 PM
Can you imagine all the jobs they'll create by introducing straw hole-less lids?

Handfuls!

And in just about all other places, cops will ride your ass for drinking a beer on the sidewalk! It's total crap and I never understood why so many "free" Americans put up with that puritan bullshiat. When I moved out of southern Louisiana I was shocked by how puritanical everywhere else is, especially with the alcohol.

Cajun sting FTW...no trip to New Orleans is complete without a stop in Slidell for a 190 proof daiquiri. I grew up on these things!

2012-02-29 03:40:10 PM
The New Orleans city council is also trying to ban 18 year olds from entering bars. You can get killed in a war but you can't go see your favorite band. farking land of the free.

Just use the ones the movie theater uses. Can't pierce the top of one of those with a knife.

Or just use two tops. Tough to get a straw through.

That's what I'm wondering... Instead of making straw holes illegal, make DRIVE THRU DAIQUIRI STANDS ILLEGAL. Good God, they can't have THAT strong of a lobby... I just don't know how anyone justifies this as anything other than drinking and driving. I can handle drive through liquor stores, they sell closed containers, and have from the beginning, not styrofoam cups of recently prepared beverage.

I'm glad they finally got around to this: straw holes.

Last year alone over 5,000,000 people died from straw holes. And no one cared until now.

Elected officials are finally thinking about the children.

It would be stupid to make a law that requires someone to get out of their car and go inside to buy something. WTF am I talking about? All of these laws are farking stupid.

LA only received an open container law a few years ago. This is pretty much a non-issue. Most places just put tape over it now. And then I take the lid off and insert the straw.

The drinking lobby is very stong in Louisiana.

3 & 4 can be confensed into (open lid).

Some should demonstrate this technique to the legilature. Tell then it took a phd in engineering to figure out

Why are they allowed to sell alcohol at a drive through to begin with?

2012-02-29 03:55:25 PM
FTFA Claitor says he filed this exact bill two years ago and it didn't get out of committee.

This says so much, oh and as for open containers they are legal in some southern states Georgia banned them in about 1999.
