Why Romney? Gingrich promised $2.50/gallon gas. I haven't heard Romney promise a lower price.

So this whole thing is a sort of Dutch auction now? Lemme get my rudder.

You have to believe that you have a serious fundamental problem in your party when a person who says that one of the core beliefs that the Founding Fathers established for this country makes him want to throw up, can almost beat one of your more "sane" candidates in his own backyard.

I think Catholics took a step back when he said Kennedy made him throw up (I am not convinced they were with him in the first place).

The economy must be doing better or Santorum would have no support whatsoever.

If you can get the man to shut up long enough about OPP you quickly realize he has no economic plan. Everyone else has something out there, heck, Cain had that idiotic 999 plan but Santorum has nothing but vague anti-Obama rhetoric, I can't find details on even undeliverable promises. Look, I know you're going to cut job-creator taxes to the bone while eliminating the deficit, do you mind at least lying to me and telling me how?

Dahnkster: Newt might actually be hurting the conservative branch of the GOP by remaining in the race. Is he siphoning votes away from Santorum? Newt can only hope to win Georgia this point.

I do believe that a lot of Gingrich voters would move over to Santorum at this point, so he's probably doing Mitt a favor by staying in.

That is the strange thing. The Republicans have no economic plan but their only hope is if the economy sucks. The only reason Santorum has any cache is because he can avoid economics and focus on social issues. Granted, they are social issues that have been settled for decades but retards have to vote for someone.

I just enjoy the derp that he only wins his home state as if he lived there sometime in the last 25 years and that his "home state" is somehow significant.

Father Romney ran a big company in Michigan, he ran and served as governor in Michigan. Family name is a big deal on ballots. Bush and Kennedy for starters, many more that don't have national recognition.

And I think most people would consider all places they spent a significant time in their home. For Obama/Romney, Hawaii/Michigan is his childhood home, Illinois/Massachusetts his parenthood home.

Yup. And if anything is important it should be how you did in the state in which you actually did things vs. just happen to be born in and attended elementary school and high school.

Losing to Santorum in MA would mean a lot more than losing in Michigan.

How can anyone say Mitt won big time in Mich? The shear fact that Rick had over 300k votes from the repub base clearly shows a split. Bottom line when you combine the votes for Newt and Rick it shows a large group of the Republican voting block that is out of their mind and it has to scare the moderate Republicans to share a political group with those people. There is no spin here, at least 50% of the republican voters in Mich want that crazy conservative crap to come into reality and I'm not talking fiscal conservatism, let that sink in.

Totally agree. I can almost grasp the "I want a guy I'd grab a beer with" mentality, in the sense that assumably someone who would hang out in that voter's group of friends would want to protect their lifestyle and interests, however I don't get at all the anti-elitism attitude. Because many people, especially on the left, seem to be looking for a daddy figure to baby them and take care of them and tell them that things will be all right and to give them things.

That's why when people tell the harsh truth about a difficult issue (jobs ain't coming back) they get trounced in the polls.

What's interesting, since the last spike in gas prices, American oil consumption has dropped.

Politics aside, this is a good thing.

Guidette Frankentits: I know you're being facetious. But what happened in 2008 for that whopping drop to occur right before the inaugration? I mean that is an INSANE drop!

Credit market collapsed, meant it became a lot more expensive to borrow money to speculate on oil futures. That speculation was the only reason oil prices, and with them gas prices, went up like they did.

GDISM. My facebook page is littered with those piece-of-shiat sticky notes. I ignored them at first, and finally visited the fan page, 'sticky-note gas n grocery movement' or something like that. I tried to be polite and engage in a diplomatic discussion on how gas prices are determined and blah blah blah but after a few posts, I was banned from the gd page. About a minute later, some derpy wench said something to the effect of, "I love how these notes are making the whacked out dem libs go crazy! Keep it up!" sumbiatch. If I ever see one of those notes in person, I'm going to blow a snot rocket on it.

If at the beginning of 2011 you did a ranking of "States friendliest towards a Romney Primary Republican run" Massachusetts would be a clear #1, but Michigan and the Mormon states would have been miles ahead of the rest.
