I've been to Namibia before, and the only thing that surprises me in this article is that there are actual residents around to see whatever this creature is in the first place. It's the second least populated country in the world per square meter after Mongolia IRC, and is an endless desert.

How empty is that, you ask? Well the second largest canyon in the world is there after the Grand Canyon, but only a few hundred people visit it a day because it's two days drive over dirt roads from anywhere of reasonable size.

The only thing I can think of is a displaced animal of some kind. I'm familiar with cryptids of North America and Europe, but Africa is a merry-go-round I'd rather not get on.

Andrewsarchus. It was in the pig family, and possibly the largest terrestrial carnivorous mammal ever. Picture a pig crossed with a hyena then turned up to 11.

No kidding. I don't know who watches crap like "SHARKGATOR vs. MEGAPYTHON 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO". Maybe the same people who just finished watching WWE on the same channel. And while we're at it, wtf is WWE doing on SyFy? That crap should be on SPIKE, or just not produced at all.

I realize Science Fiction is a niche market, but with a bajillion channels on TV you'd think that there'd be one with some half decent SciFi programming. After they canned Stargate Universe, they've got nothing for the space nerds.

On our honeymoon, our hotel in Barbados got SyFy. My wife goes to sleep way earlier than I do, so I stayed up watching terrible SyFy movies.

One was called "The Shaft" and it's about an elevator...that kills. It had pretty decent costuming and set design, and starred a young Naomi Watts, but...it's about an elevator that has brain cells taken from a serial killer implanted in its elevator control circuitry, and therefore is a murder.

Another was called "Lake Dead" and it's about an incestuous family...that kills. It has every horror trope ever, including a pretty girl running from the killer and tripping over nothing to sprain her ankle.

Another was called "Blood Monkey" and it's about an...uhm...blood?...monkey...that kills. It stars F. Murray Abraham, for God's sake! It was made in like 2006, and it had F. Murray Abraham in it! He was Salieri! He won a Best Actor Academy Award! He should not be in a movie called Blood Monkey!

Black magic? Totally wrong! Here is the rest of the story:
The Nazis did it (with the help of Jews, of course).
Shortly after Stalingrad Hitler ordered Speer and Bormann to develop a totally new farm animal, as too many people fit for military service were still working on farms. That, together with his "Wunderwaffen" would have helped him over a shortage on soldiers and food.
Speer blatantly refused ("Was für einen Scheiß soll ich denn noch alles machen", was his word). But Bormann, with his secret connections to Namibia (formerly, "Deutsch-Südwest-Afrika") built up a laboratory there, after having successfully frisked all KZs for able scientists.
Off they went to Namibia with two gigantic camouflaged Zeppelins (carrying man & material). After 1 year they came up with a first prototype (called "Wolpertinger", c.f. http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Datei:Wolpertinger.jpg&filet imestamp=20080829140408).
Although this design would have helped each and every German to hold his own Wolpertinger at home, or in the office, or both, even in small appartements, Hitler didn't liked it and furiously asked for more and better.
So they went on with their work and developed prototype No. 2, called the "eierlegende Wollmilchsau" (egglaying wool-milk-pig).
Suddenly and unexpectedly, Hitler died and could not make a final decision on future development. Without any funding anymore, Bormann decided to close the secret laboratory.
Everybody went off then. The Jewish scientists mostly went to South-Africa, then to Israel or Russia to conclude their evil work.
Bormann and the prototype farm animals decided to stay in Namibia, uncrowded as it was and is. (That's why Bormann never was caught, btw.) Probably, one or the other mad scientists staid with him and they jointly developed the "dog-headed pig monster". Or the "dog-headed pig monster" is just a stray of prototype 2?
Who knows? Namibian Intelligence should better follow this track.

He was probably pulling a Vincent Price move.

Remember all those awful horror movies Vincent Price was in? Well, he did those so he could buy pieces of art to add to his collection or make payments on his house. And he always gave 100% even if the entire cast and crew were totally clueless. .
