You may think you're helping Obama, but if you look at how Santorum polls against Obama recently, it's closer than you should be comfortable with.

Never put a bloody theocratic fascist in a position where he could even conceivably, no matter how slim the possibility, obtain power. It's playing with fire. Hell, it's playing with fire when everything around you is soaked in gasoline. Rick Santorum is doing well because he actually appeals to people more than Romney. He could very well appeal to people more than Obama if something happens to dramatically reduce Obama's chances, like several months of terrible job numbers or bad economic prospects or any kind of October Surprise-like scandal. Also, the fact that Mitt Romney is so very unappealing is probably more helpful to Obama in November. Everyone finds him off-putting, even Republicans. He's so easy to attack on his record and his flip flopping and because he's a trillionaire with all the offshore bank accounts, and the only thing he can come up with in his defence is saving the Olympics, as if anyone gives a fark. He's a known quantity, he's probably already hit his ceiling of support nationally, and has nowhere to go but down.

Bush was a Christian...who you could have a beer with. He was a known coke snorter and frat boy. His brand of friendly, "Jesus loves America" Christianity was more palatable. He talked a little shiat about abortion but he did nothing when Republicans controlled all three branches of government (probably to keep the option available for his daughters). Santorum's faith is much more judgemental and intolerant.

Should be an interesting night tonight... because even if Romney wins (which Nate Silver gives him 4/5 odds) it is going to be Pyrrhic victory. Romney (and his SuperPACs) have had to outspend Santorum by an order of magnitude in order to win it, but he will not win enough delegates to put him far enough ahead for to create a buffer for Super Tuesday (which Santorum looks to be on the path to win).
