Indiana is filled with gang members from Chicago with warrants. They move to the smaller cities to get away from the heat and to start hustling to spoiled white kids.

A lot if you stack them.

Hopefully this means that more crooks end up getting shot and hopefully killed by law-abiding citizens. I understand that much of Illinois that's not Chicago tends to be less uptight about allowing people to defend themselves.

This is how cities have always grown. Look at old maps of towns some time. Starbuck's, thuggery, plumbing, they all spread.

Every population center needs to have a bad neighborhood, with a decent boulevard to cruise.

A lot of crime riddles areas were once afluent or suburban. The affluent white folk in OC just keep building new communities until they too become older and run Down and ghe influx of renters and thugs begins. By the end of the century, we'll probably run out of space and we'll see gentrification and mega high rises popping up. Either taht or the county will become a combination of resorts and prisons.

Read the article about them busting in doors of people homes who dont answer because they arent home. I often dont answer my door when people knock. I usually am next to a loaded handgun at home, got no kids, why have safety locks or gun safe? I figure it would take 2-3 good kicks to get in.

This isn't news. It's been happening ever since the Robert Taylor Homes and Cabrini Green got tore down. (Candyman) The neighborhood where I live has been going downhill for at least 5 years, and most of the time, when I meet someone who isn't from this city originally, they've come here from Chicago. When you "gentrify" a city, you're improving your shiat at the cost of someone else's shiat. I love Chicago but in the last 10-15 years it's completely turned into an over-rated, over-priced city full of douchebag hipsters and farking corporate banker types. Too expensive and too pretentious.

Meanwhile, my plans for a log cabin in the Northwest Territory continue.

slc11082: What kind of idiot would move to the burbs? Taxes are high, its always cold, it's expensive... If I had to live in friggen Hoffman Estates or naperville I might as well just move to some suburb in dallas. It's the same damn thing at half the price.

When you move to the chicago area you move there to go to cubs games, pick up easy drunk hipster chicks in wickerpark and go to the beach in the summer. Not to live an hour and a half in friggin napperville.

Well, duh. Except it started way more than five years ago. There's been gang activity surrounding the OP/RF/FP area on three sides and creeping in along the edges for decades. I remember seeing gang tags in south OP back in the '70s - Four Corner Hustlers, 12th Street Players... I remember seeing packs of kids in and around the high school wearing Charlotte Hornets Starter jackets back when they were an expansion team, they sucked, and Jordan and Pippen were on the Bulls. I'm pretty sure their popularity around the school had little to do with basketball.

Yeah, I'm in my mid-30s and Maywood has been a craphole pretty much my entire life. And the Chicago neighborhoods adjacent to OP and FP have been terrible for at least that long. It was kind of inevitable that the bangers in those areas would spill over, I doubt it's that new of a thing. And Cicero? It's been full of white gangsters in its past quite regularly, may as well add the street gangs to it.

It's a pretty straight-forward article about gang members relocating to suburban neighborhoods. What's the "elephant in the room?"

There have always been gangs in the suburbs. It's just usually been kept quiet for the sake of property values. Do you honestly think you're going to live on the West Side, even if your mailing address isn't "Chicago," and not have any gangbangers? In fact I'd take the real West Side over that any day, and at least the police department is geared up for the problem and the bus comes more often.
