Seriously Fox is pretty bad at this Twitter stuff. No mention of the 500 moving to 7pm, and no mention of contingency on the shows that will be pre-empted.

Funny that @nascaronfox has mentioned anything, and FOX's own twitter hasn't been updated since like yesterday.

Whatever, Alcatraz is second, so I'm sure we'll have time to tape it if they move it to FX or something.

Also, I was really hoping The American Idol finals would be what had to be pre-empted. That would be some epic biatching!

Wow, I just posted this in the old thread, refreshed and this thread popped up:
I just got home from work, is everything still a go for the race? I will most likely be tracking it as I go back and forth with HIMYM and Raw tonight.

I figure this will stay the thread for those off work tonight? Is there a Raw thread greenlit(what time)? If not I'll just hang in here. I'm just hoping with wet track that no one gets hurt tonight if people press too hard.

I guess this thread answered that Nascar thread question

Fox needs to bump O'Reilly and Hannity and show House and Alcatraz on Fox News. Nothing of value would be lost. It's going to be annoying as shiat if we sit here all night waiting out the rain only to not get the race in.

I love the combination of insulting it, then immediately outing yourself as someone who would watch for the wrecks, something many of those "rednecks" would look down on.

That said, you're in luck. It's been a shiatshow all week because of NASCAR's rule changes. Running at night when everyone set up for the day should have some interesting side effects, too.

Are the cars impounded 100%, or are they allowed to make changes for nighttime racing?

I *believe* Daytona is an "impound" race, but do they make allowances for situations like this?

*Funky rules packages producing large numbers of wrecks? Check.
*Hotheaded drivers who are agitated at racing on Monday night? Check
*Rain producing slippery conditions? Check
*The rain washing away all built up rubber on the track leaving it green? Check
*Cars set up for the day running at night? Check
*Cars that can overheat and blow up at the drop of a hat? Check.
*A single hit to the left-rear corner causing multi-car crashes? Check.
*Kurt and Kyle Busch? Check.
*Danica Patrick? Check.

This race may well be the greatest clusterfark in the history of racing clusterfarks.

That's apparently the actual in-race car. The Santorum campaign is the sponsor for the team for this race.

Ok, NASCAR.com says the sponsor of the #26 is "Front Row Motorsports". But, of course, NASCAR's site is the most unreliable site for NASCAR information.

I sure wish someone would be get in the first row to show this and other sports streaming on the interent. Doting on online fans would be best and It would be educational for those of us non-hardcore Nascar fans.

It's been an impound last I heard. Teams were allowed to turn over to warm up fluids only. That update was a while ago though.

I don't think the 500 is an impound race. NASCAR even allowed teams one free engine change after frying em in the 150s. But I don't think this rules package has been tested or practiced under night time conditions for the whole field. So the guys who didn't run the Shootout are definitely at a disadvantage. They're going to have to guess or ask those that did. That just shuffles the deck more.

What I find more interesting is if the cooler temps means teams will be willing to risk pushing a bit longer than they were planning on.

Tony Raines drove the car into the race based on his qualifying speed. Santorum's campaign decided to do a "feel-good" move (and get some benefit, of course), and sponsor the car. It was nude at the beginning of Speedweeks.

FUN FACT: In 2008, Hillary Clinton picked a filly named Eight Belles to win the Kentucky Derby, declaring the filly a metaphor for her campaign.

Eight Belles came in second to a horse named Big Brown and had to be euthanized after she shattered a couple of ankles because she couldn't stop running.

Let's see if Santorum does better sponsoring Tony Raines.

Oh just answered that myself.
From TMZ:
WWE star John Cena will still wave the honorary green starter flag at the Daytona 500 tomorrow -- despite rumors the wrestling star would be forced to miss the race ... TMZ has learned.

In case you didn't know, the Daytona 500 was rained out today for the first time in its 54-year history and pushed back to tomorrow at noon.

There were several reports ... Cena would have to miss the race because he's also scheduled to appear at Monday Night RAW in Portland, Oregon.

But a rep for the WWE tells TMZ, "John Cena will still start the Daytona 500 off by waving the green flag and saying drivers start your engines."

The rep adds, "Shortly after he'll fly to Portland, Oregon to be at Monday Night RAW."

Busy day.

February 27, 7:20 AM PT -- The Daytona 500 start was pushed back to 7 P.M. Monday night which means Cena can no longer make an appearance at the race.

Well NASCAR i tried. But if youre gonna run your race on monday night..ive got other plans. Leaving #raintona going to #RAW
