And the wreck happens in the tri-oval. I'm shocked I tell you.

I thought the Geico/mears car was already out

Yellow Flag, yeah this race is done.

2012-02-28 12:19:43 AM
Casey Mears just really wanted to donuts in the grass tonight.

2012-02-28 12:19:48 AM

mikaloyd: How many of yall who predicted that NASCAR had sentenced these drivers to death by making them race on speed dry tonight, also complained bitterly about NASCAR yesterday for not racing in the rain?

I am not part of that group.

/And, we've got the 9 and 13 spinning. Caution flag.

2012-02-28 12:20:11 AM
The moving chicane nearly causes a wreck. Will they take Mears off now?

2012-02-28 12:20:12 AM

The Bestest: really, we all complain about Fox now, but when the bottom third of the season comes long and we're in ESPN/ABC territory, we'll all be begging for Fox back.

We're biatching about Fox's commercial stuff, not their on air staff. We all know that when it hits ESPN/ABC we'll be begging for the Fox crew.

2012-02-28 12:20:27 AM
NASCAR is likely radioing the drivers to take it easy around the jet dryers.

Not even close. It's a racing incident similar to what happened between Almirola and Danica in the Duels.

Just in Casey thought he'd finish

Nah, we'll finish. Might be a couple of G-W-C's, but we'll finish. Glad to see I was wrong about my trepidation.

I'm such a mom.

Caution, so they will replay it for 5 mins then go green then go to commercial.

When the rights to the races were shuffled around ten years ago, a lot of the old TNN crew went to work the FOX broadcasts (hence why it's often competent but never great), while the TNT/NBC crew was an amalgam of the old TBS and ESPN crews.(Hence why it'd randomly go from awesome to craptastic and back again).

When ESPN/ABC got back into the racing biz a few years ago when they took over NBC's rights, most of their old group had either retired, moved on to other gigs, gone into other lines of work entirely, or stayed at TNT - meaning they got a lot of 2nd and 3rd string guys plus the couple of folks (paging Dr. Jerry Punch) who never left.

Well of course! You didn't expect them to go to commercial during the 2-hour red flag, did ya? We mighta missed some intense sweeping action!

Curling....curling....

The Scotties Tournament of Hearts (Canadian Women's Championship) just wrapped up on Sunday night.

i thinks it is funny the people saying Cup cars need to run rain tires like F1.

when has the lead lap pack of cars in F1 been less than 2 seconds away from each other? going 190 mph? sure F1 cars are fast but they are spread out 40 seconds after 3 laps.

The current ESPN crew is almost better than the old ESPN crew. I say this because while the old ESPN crew had Benny and Ned, they also had Bob Jenkins, who seemed to let his contempt for non-open-wheeled racing show through at times.

Well it's the first Daytona 500 that will be remembered for a crash involving only one Cup car.

I have newfound respect for the Cup guys tonight, and I still hope you win our argument from earlier in the week. Burton's ballsy move was awesome on that restart,, but even I still think rain racing on anything other than road courses or *maybe* Martinsville is retarded.

Bob Jenkins always ran hot and cold in NASCAR coverage. When he was interested in the race going on in front of him, there were few genuinely better. But the second he got bored, you'd better pray that Benny and Ned were on their game, otherwise God help everyone watching because he'd make a race sound like torture.
