penguin31: Helton admitting that the track surface and wall are at least slightly compromised but that they're going to try to race again anyway!

Yeah. Gouges...normal?? *MAYBE*. But usually they aren't LATERAL across the track, right? That seems like it might cause an accident.

Dumb-Ass-Monkey: Seriously, Mike??

They just really don't want Blaney to win.

That's my take too

So, they figure a gouge is ok to have on the track?

And, looks like he knows it will be another 30-45 minutes.

I wonder how long it takes to replace that section of barrier.

They're saying this should be done in 30 minutes and we'd be back racing. Everybody, start doing a rain dance!

ScreamingLemur46: vygramul: smerfnablin: You literally have metal melted into the track...

Jet fuel can't melt metal. At least, that's what I've been told.

I'm pretty sure I saw a cruise missile hit the dryer before Montoya got to it.

None of Daytona's Jewish workers showed up to work tonight. Coincidence?

bluorangefyre: They're saying this should be done in 30 minutes and we'd be back racing. Everybody, start doing a rain dance!

Ohgod don't start that shiat--I've actually had people ask me to do this IRL, and at hardware stores even :P

(Yes, seriously. During a drought I had someone checking me out at a now-defunct hardware store chain ask me to do a rain dance when she realised I have enough First Nations heritage to look a bit NDN--and when I explained my ancestors hadn't been "traditional" for something like 150 years, she told me to "make one up--the trees need it". As if she can't get off her own tofu-eatin' arse and do her own rain dance--I promise it'd be about as effective :D)

They said earlier in the telecast that some drivers had special compartments built in the cars for them. So no, he isn't.
