Splinshints:
Really? I get a kick. You have to view him in the right light, though. I picture some kid, early twenties, probably has a bachelor degree from some semi-notable school and is in his first position. Probably either a relatively small company where he hasn't been exposed to a wide variety of problems and people or a very large company where he's been pigeon-holed into some out of the way department where he doesn't get to interact much with the real tech workers. I suspect he also reads a lot because he knows about a lot of things but the way he talks about them it's obvious he doesn't actually have any experience with them
....
In the meantime, I'm still getting a kick...

Yeah, I agree. I was in programming for a while, and now I'm a semi-noob sysadmin (*NIX and Windows) & help desk. It always blows me away how much of EVERYTHING I have to know and learn to do my job. Sometimes it means deciphering machine code, or learning to program / script on short notice in something I've never used before. Sometimes it means using a screwdriver or moving 100 lb. objects around that have an inch of dust on them. Looking up how all the pins for video signals work today, arts and crafts to make something fit into a space I want it to, tomorrow.

Smug arrogance outgrow most people in their teenage years. Belittling others doesn't make you look smart, it makes you look like an insecure jerk that nobody wants to be nice to.

Then again, some people never learn. If you've haven't learned this stuff by 30, then it's likely you'll be an angry pill-popper at 50 wondering why your ex-spouse, kids, co-workers, "friends", and dog and everyone else you know are so disappointing.

dumbobruni: french worker productivity is higher than the United States

No it isn't.

//

Yes it is. Sorry to disappoint you as Americans work harder but the Europeans & Japanese work smarter.

The Japanese I can understand. But otherwise it's just the Germans and the Dutch, in Europe at least ... and the Swiss of course.
I've always thought Americans worked smarter; from what I've seen on various media like Discovery and YouTube, the US working ethic (in construction, maintenance, ...) seems to have a lot in common with Germany's "Deutsche gründlichkeit".

"Boss fight" is my favorite. Though they don't let you play it very much before you get fired. And arrested.

http://www.thenewfederalist.eu/Europe-vs-USA-Whose-Economy-Wins

"The main reason the US is richer is, first of all, because a higher proportion of Americans are in employment and, secondly, they work about 20% more hours per year than Europeans. When we adjust for both these factors and look at GDP in 2005 per person per hour worked, there is virtually no difference between Germany, France and the US."

You just provided a link that confirmed what I wrote.

Your reading comprehension needs adjusting.

Sitting around at work 20% longer is not the same thing as being 20% more productive.

Illegal drug use works for me. I recommend it for you too.

Jesus, you people are farking retarded.

I said "French productivity is not higher than American". This links shows that it isn't, it's the same by a per-hour measure. American workers get 20% more done (higher productivity by per-worker measure) because they work 20% more hours (same productivity by per-hour measure).

French productivity not greater than American productivity, it's the same, which is in accordance with what I said.
