Both sides are bad, it's just greater or lesser degrees of it. Personally I'd take my chances with the treehuggers and so-called limousine liberals though.

You're engaging in a logical fallacy. Often "both sides are bad" is a poor rhetorical argument, but just because it's often a bad point doesn't mean that it always is. In this case it seems to apply. Worse, you're the proof that it applies. But you, like your teabagging cousins, are too blinded by hate to notice that the crap your spewing is about as intelligent as the crap they're spewing.

Its a good start.

Every state ought to be passing similar bills. And I'm sure we will start to see many other states do so.

This is merely the beginnings of a good counterweight to the disintegrating moral and legal authority of the Federal government. They have proven time and again that they are neither interested in, nor capable of, responsibly running a nation-state.

Which logical fallacy are you yammering about? Mr. "both sidez" used a bare assertion ("you're wrong because you're wrong") in a non-sequitor. All I did is tell him I wasn't surprised by his lack of any argument.

Worse, you're the proof that it applies. But you, like your teabagging cousins, are too blinded by hate to notice that the crap your spewing is about as intelligent as the crap they're spewing.

Remember, the state sport in Wyoming is puking off the back of a pickup truck while driving through town on the gravel road.

There's a decent chance my brother would agree with that assessment.

Off to RTFA now, brb.

...

A) Uh, whoops, it's a Reason article, which means it probly ain't.

B) Honestly now, yeah yeah aircraft carrier har de har har, but did those f*ckwits in the state legislature REALLY NOT CHECK A MAP!!??

c) This article is stupid and I'm gonna go call my brother RIGHT F*CKING NOW.

spaten: LouDobbsAwaaaay: st.bobo: not sure how we get from 'idiots planning for the zombies' to 'RACISTS!'

Conservatives always go a little crazy when a D is in the White House. Clinton and the black UN helicopters, etc. But the level of crazy expressed by the right-wingers following Obama's inauguration is completely over the top. The racism is fuel on the fire of republican paranoia. The birth certificate conspiracy is the most visible symptom of racism - as if there would be any question whatsoever if the Prez were a white guy. With Obama, even after he releases both the certificate of live birth AND the long-form certificate, he's still a Kenyan in the eyes of the totally-not-racist right-wing.

The teabaggers are just klansmen substituting blind, directionless faux conservatism for outright racist rhetoric, when they aren't busy screaming outright racist rhetoric, that is. They need something to scream that isn't "n****r", and the GOP is happy to supply them the necessary substitute. They're so grateful for a direction to spew their outrage that they don't even mind when the direction completely changes direction every few weeks. It's just a place-holder.

Baggers, militia-men, survival-fetishists. The overlap is nearly 100%.

Wow, Do you actually believe that? If so, the left is as delusional as the birthers.

I live in Wyoming, I have yet to meet a teabagger who wasn't a racist nitwit. Eventually they slip up and say n*igger, or make some other foul comment that gives them away. They are a pathetic bunch. I have spent time in WA, MT, and ID and have found similar results. This area is full of right wing kooks.

Even when right in the middle of doing something racist, racists don't like to be told that they're racists. In a way it's a good sign - at least they seem aware that what they're doing is wrong, or at least not socially acceptable.

The haughty "how DARE YOU" attitude always entertains me a bit.

Wyoming is one of those charming little states that's completely forgettable 364 days of the year. And then they come up with something cute like this. Hopefully, they're harmless, but sometimes you have to wonder if something will snap one day after they eat too much paste. They're like America's Ralph Wiggum.

Wyoming is the only state whose name is a gerund.

Devil's Tower, Hell's Half Acre, Devil's Gate? Obviously Satan cornered the real estate market in Wyoming long ago...

BGates: Bobafatt: Yeah so I read the Bill. It gives $32000 to reimburse travel and per diem for people from the state to meet with Federal officials to discuss the impacts. Didn't see any mention of aircraft carriers or strike aircraft. $32000 is nothing to them since they are one of the only states in the black.

I don't think this has anything to due with the national government. Didn't you see "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" the wyoming government is now just getting off their lazy asses and using this bill to start gathering info on how to deal with a real alien attack.

And they cut the funding in half also.

Wyoming also has an intergalactic spaceport. (new window)

Oh yeah, Wyoming sucks. Don't come here.

A landlocked state wants a blue navy.

A landlocked state with an estimated 568,158 citizens, lowest in the nation, wants a blue navy.

Actually, every nation has contingency plans. USA has plans for what would happen if Canada became an anarchy overnight. Canada has the same regarding USA. It actually makes sense for a state in the USA to have the same, it's just the specific stipulation for an aircraft carrier is patently absurd.

He was rather amused by what I told him, 'specially about Representative Kermit and the....aircraft carrier.

However, when I asked him "WTF is Kermit putting in his office water cooler??"
he just kinda verbally shrugged that off and said "We need more crazy up here".

Probably meaning the kinda crazy I have.

He finds people in Wyoming generally kinda dull & boring and he's been up there for years.

Are we sure someone didn't talk about wanting a ship named the "USS Wyoming" and another person misconstrued that into the state needing their own aircraft carrier?

I'm thinking of the practical uses of a derelict carrier, and there ain't much beyond storage.

Good idea: having a couple weeks of food, water, medicine, and emergency supplies in case a natural disaster occurs and regular transportation is disrupted.

GaryPDX idea: having all of the above, and stockpiling ammo to shoot Obama's storm troopers when they come to take you away to the Organizing For America concentration camps.

If you actually read the bill (new window), not the bullshiat article, it all is pretty reasonable. NO mention of an aircraft carrier. It pretty much talks about setting up a task force that will allow them to consider what to do should the national government break down. What sort of food or energy shortages would exist, how to get the National Guard and federal troops to work together, that sort of thing.

The bill itself makes a lot of sense. I'm wondering if this Rep tacked on the amendment with the draft and aircraft carrier because he didn't like the bill, and figured the amendment would make it look stupid and cause it to fail.

Don't you understand? The president's black, therefore anybody who doesn't support his policies is a racist, even if nothing they actually say could be construed as referencing race in any way. Obviously it just means they're dog-whisting, even if the only people who can apparently hear the whistling are progressives.

This is as opposed to, for example, all the progressives who spent years trying to paint Clarence Thomas as being stupid and a sexual predator. Voting D proves you can't possibly be racist, even if your rhetoric is full of time-worn racial stereotypes when you attack a black man.
