Hey y'all. Missing the pre-race fun because I'm turning an old computer into a full-time streaming machine for the big TV. Giving up cable was much easier when I realized that everything is on teh intarwebs for free.

Fireproof: GardenWeasel: Outtaphase: WTF Indeed: k.wigflip.com

I was wondering about that reference until I learned he's ACTUALLY sponsoring a car in the race. WTF. (new window)

I'm waiting for the engine to blow and the car to start spewing oil from the rear. The lulz will be epic.

The guy is starting 41st. The chances of Santorum being splattered all over the track are pretty good.

This.

vegaswench: turbokat: AceThunder: 88 seconds late! Damn, so that means Joonyer is going to win!

Let's not get crazy..........

Did you see Friday's truck race and the Nationwide race yesterday? I am now convinced that anything can happen, and Dale Jr. winning is a distinct possibility. I'm so scared...so cold...

And this. John King (Truck series) and James Buescher(Nationwide, part-time) are holding trophies right now. The 500 is going to be a shiat-show this year. ESPECIALLY if the track is slicker than usual.

vegaswench: dettigersnw22: So they'd potentially rather go on a monday afternoon when everyone is at work or school rather than go against the Oscars, which no self-respecting Nascar fan gives a shiat about anyway?

If I could vote "smart" for this a dozen times, I would. I haven't watched the Oscars since the 1990s.

Agree. A thousand times, THIS.

I'll probably be doing that when my promo rate is up with comcast. Interwebs + netflix is all I need. At least until football season

Beginning of every season, 90% of the people in this thread complain about DW's announcing style.
by the end of the season, the NBC and ESPN announcers have people saying that they can't wait to have DW back.

For better or worse, he brings a TON of personality into the booth. You may not like "Boogity boogity boogity", but it's a hell of a lot more exciting that "and the race is green".

With Mikey in the booth with him, I wonder if he'll cry again. He does pretty much every time they race here, doesn't he?

Now I'm finding forecasts saying light rain through the entire day and into the evening. This race isn't happening today, not a chance.

No disagreement from me. I like DW; he's entertaining. Mikey's just annoying.

It's a lot easier than I thought it would be. I get 4 different PBS stations over the air, which is way cool. I also find myself turning the damn TV off when nothing good is on, which has been educational. I didn't realize just how much utter crap I used to watch.

Got stream? Yes BAH GAWD I WILL BE WATCHING!!! Likely the only race I will get to actually watch/hear and participate in the thread this whole entire season, since I work evey weekend except for this one since my wife is recovering from a C-section.

The other question that should've been asked: Will the drivers actually see the green flag wave? Because yes, we get to mix in a bit of wrestling with our racing today, since John Cena is waving the green flag.

From what I'm reading, the weather may not clear up until prime-time tomorrow. Unless they run the race 24-hour style in 25-lap increments.

2012-02-26 12:52:05 PM
Also, have we decided if the idol will be powered up this season? It seemed to succeed last year, but do we want to keep it running just to be sure? Or did it become self-aware? Or did it have intimate relations with karma and Jimmie Johnson started having bad luck BEFORE the season even started with his team being caught cheating again?

CENA SUCKS!

Funny thought: you know how half the arena chants that while the other cheers for Cena? Imagine if the entirety of Daytona International Speedway did that. I'd hear the 'CENA SUCKS!' chants clean up here.

MFAWG: Darrell knows perfectly well that hands off the wheel is the absolutely correct move in certain situations.

Actually, I think they did that JUST right.

Yaa, I forget that we still have some of that 'For Those Of You New To NASCAR' shiat going on.

I did think the hands up was interesting. I'm guessing the arm restraints they use don't allow you to cross your hands over your chest, which is what I was told was the smart thing to do back in the days when the cars were made of steel and the drivers were made of iron.

If you have room (and time) the safest place for your arms in the event of an impending *serious* collision is right where she put them. Braced against the HANS device.

So, Mikey is in the booth for this one? Race official before it even starts?
