I enjoyed Happy Gilmore and Little Nicky, but only because the supporting cast was so good. Everything else he's ever done is crap.

Jack and Jill: $74M
Bucky Larson: $2M
Just Go With It: $103M

2011 grosses. They'll continue to bring in revenue from DVDs, TV, international, etc.

That second one isn't a typo. But for the other two, I'd accept a star's/producer's salary for those in exchange for critics giving me negative awards.

Don't blame Sandler for making crap. Blame the people who buy the tickets that cause these films to keep getting made. If you showed Adam Sandler a crystal ball that said he could keep making $75-100M-grossing sacks of garbage every year for the rest of his life, you'd see Jack and Jill 5: Fartlectric Boogapoo soon enough.

Oh, I don't think any reasonable person actually blames him. If I could make money releasing the latest "Dopeydwarf is a Stupid Idiot" movie I would be all over it. And you have to keep in mind that Sandler has tried to branch out with movies like Punch-Drunk Love and Spanglish, but I think he and his agents, producers, etc. figured out that most people are content just seeing him act like a goofball. I think if you're interested in the big bucks you have to give the masses what they want even if it isn't what you'd really like to be doing. Sure he has plenty of cash and could move out of his safety zone a little more often, but why mess up a good thing?

Adam Sandler has acted in 43 movies.

That you could muster his best 4 means he has a rate of 9.3%

Yeah, crappy actor.

The best thing about Adam Sandler's career is how he's just given up. For a while there he was going to pull a Jim Carrey and hope that his comedy could translate into a real dramatic acting career. Punch-Drunk Love? Spaglish? Yeah, right.

Now today he just puts out more crap. Every so often he tries to put out something with some dramatic overtone to show that he can do it, but he can't. So yeah, Sandler would be a success if you count the money. Then again, if he only cared about money, Punch-Drunk Love and Spaglish would be collecting dust in a drawer somewhere.

I hate to see Sandler's career in a decade or so. He's middle-aged, and at the point where he's either going to put out some awesome comedy or simply going to fall off the face of the Earth. He can't keep doing Jack & Jill shiat forever.

Does every single second of Adam Sandler's career stink on ice? No. He was entertaining as 'Canteen Boy' and he fist-fought Bob Barker.

The rest is pretty much dreck, not 'pretty good to very good movies'. His range is less than Mike Meyers, which, if you remove the Fat Bastard costumes and Dr. Evil makeup, is pretty pathetic...and even then, Peter Sellers was much better at the same trick.

Fixed that for myself. And I am with the people who don't blame Sandler. He is capable of more, but he is being offered mindless-money-making-machine films. That's a business decision, and it belongs on the Business tab.

Sandler hasn't been funny in over a decade. Perhaps Fark should create a "Pain" or "Fail" tab, which Sandler could frequently be a part of.

Ever comic actor should try a few straight-up evil villain roles. Robin Williams did it fairly well. Sandler as John Wayne Gacy would be horrifying...intentionally, for a change.

Pacino never safeguarded his career from the Y2K bug. It's why he hasn't been in anything of consequence since the '90s.

Pacino, like DeNiro, is at the "I've become such an icon that I don't give a shiat anymore, I can do anything and everybody will worship me anyway, just give me the script, there I did my lines now give me my check you mook oops my diaper" stage of his career.

I don't understand how some of you look back fondly on shiatsmears like Waterboy, Little Nicky and Billy Madison. I've sat down to watch at least a dozen different Sandler movies and something about seeing a grown man act like that made me angry enough to leave the room.

But you did it a dozen times?

I saw Punch Drunk Love and thought Sandler had finally found his way out of SNL-style corny zaniness, but it appears to have been an aberration in an otherwise spotless record of total crap. I actually respect Rob Schneider more than Adam Sandler; at least Rob Schneider is completely aware that he's in the business of killing comedy as an art form. I saw an interview he did on The Daily Show a few years ago where it was obvious he knew what he was guilty of, and he seemed okay with it. I'm not convinced Sandler is that self-conscious.

2012-02-26 02:08:29 PM
"The Longest Yard" remake was hilarious.
Sandler wasn't bad in "Reign Over Me". It just fell flat (despite Don Cheadle's efforts).
I loved Click and still watch Mr. Deeds whenever it comes on TV.

Sandler's movies can be very entertaining. They just haven't been recently. I do think he needs to figure out what direction he's going to take soon, because he's pushing 50, and that's way too old to be doing the goofy bullshiat that earned him those Razzie nominations.

I watched this the other day (free Redbox rental). It was pretty awful. Everyone talked like Adam Sandler and it felt like they realised they needed an ending to the movie the last 10 minutes or so. I feel sorry for Christina Ricci...
