I was expecting much worse...

That was not as bad as I thought it would be. No eye bleach necessary.

She was the perfect combination of being blessed with good genes, cursed with a bad self image, being rich, having no talent, being stupid, being selfish, and being generally skanky. Given all of this, I'm surprised she looks even this good.

Tawny Kitaen, Janice Dickinson,- there are so many examples of this same kind of loathsome person destroying themselves over time.

She may not be as good as she once was,
But she's certainly as good once as she ever was.

Jean Harlow made it work.

No, she didn't. It looked stupid then and it looks stupid now. I'll never understand women plucking all their brows off and drawing them back on.

Leo, I don't care for your demeanor.

Seriously? In 2012, you're trying this horse shiat. My only asset ain't my beauty. Women, too, get wealthier and gain more assets as we age these days, you neanderthal.

I think he meant assets as in "what attracts the opposite sex". And guys don't care how much money women make.

Actually, that's not true, if she makes too much a lot of them get butthurt, even if they think they won't. Not that most men want a woman who's financially dependent on them, but in my experience, unless it's only a little bit more, most guys are uncomfortable if their gf/wife gets a better job and starts making significantly more money than them.

If that was ever true, it isn't now. I find the very suggestion laughable.

Honestly, dudes are either lazy overgrown teenagers looking for a never ending adolescence, or they are so career driven and subtly sexist that strong women intimidate them. I've heard that we're both.

I know exactly zero men who would bristle at their lady friend making more money. Zero.

Stretched, frozen and no eyebrows is no way for a face to go through life, Pammy.

Fifteen years ago she was the go-to girl for obvious closeted gay guys to fawn over and proclaim how hot she was to try to assert their masculinity. She was like a bizarre exaggerated caricature of what a hot woman might look like if pieced together from silicone, shoe leather and botulism toxin by someone who really didn't know what a hot woman should look like. Now she's looking more like an old drag queen than ever.

You're both being douches.

Most men care more about the size of your tits than the size of your bank account. El douche-amongo is correct in pointing out that from a male/female relationship perspective, beauty counts for a lot in the politics of who has power in a relationship, and yes, this generally does wane over time.

That being said, I don't know a single guy that's ever proclaimed, "Look at her assets, she's really stable financially and that gets me hard". I mean, really, good for you - and you're right, it's amazing that we've finally reached a point where women can obtain financial independance.

However, that independance doesn't equate into success with the opposite gender. It's like that guy who was dissed by that Jezebel/Gawker writer for being a Magic the Gathering world champ. To some people, being a champ at MtG is a fantastic thing and worthy of praise, to that girl it was like being excellent at something she not only didn't give a shiat about, but actually thought was dorky.

Anyway, there is no solution for this and there probably won't be, because while some women will endeavor to change the game, other women will seize that as an opportunity to get a leg up in their attempts at attracting a mate. That's the biatch about humanity (no pun intended), we are pretty farking competitive that way.

I dunno, I guess uncomfortable truths are uncomfortable. Doesn't matter if it's 2012 or not.

Some time ago I saw a Married With Children where Al was dreaming, and a fresh from being a Playboy centerfold Pamela Anderson was starring in his dream. I had forgotten just how lovely she was back then. This aging business sucks, we need our gerontologists to come up with something soon.

It must be so harsh to be someone like her, able to see pictures and video of when you were in your prime everywhere. Of course the smoking, sun bathing, partying all hastened the inevitable. From the interviews I've seen, she actually seems reasonably smart, with a good sense of humor, so there is more to her than her fading beauty.

Or, we could be less fixated on youth and realize that what one can offer changes as one gets older. She is actually reasonably intelligent, and somewhat funny - sure, she's also a PETA shill, but her intentions are good. Fixating on what she looked like decades ago, instead of what she is today, seems unhealthy in a very real sense.

Have you given much thought to why some people are considered pretty, and others are not? Or why even legendary beauties can no longer turn heads when they are in their 80s?

Not as much as some, apparently. We spend way too much time, as a culture, doing so, with some rather disturbing results.
