What's wrong with fortune cookies? Fortune cookies were the creation of Chinese immigrants who came to the US in search of a better life. Damn appropriate if you ask me.

Why don't they just ask the celebrity what to put in it, since it's a celebrity endorsement?

wildcardjack: Could have been worse. If he'd been Japanese they could have broke out the weird ass Japanese ice cream recipes.

That's true. It could have been Green Tea Ice Cream with honey, fortune cookies, pairs of used girls panties, ramen and a octopus raping machine.

MusicMakeMyHeadPound: saintstryfe: I really don't get this - first, the idea of an ice cream with bits of fortune cookie in it sounds awesome, and two, why is it insulting? It's done lovingly, not diminutively.

I think it has to do with perpetuation of "the other".

The reality is that Jeremy Lin is as American as apple pie, but the first thing people see with him is "Chinese".

I'll admit, I'd be slightly offended if people outright associated me with sauerkraut and spaetzle, delicious as they are.

Yeah, well, you have the luck of being an ethnicity in America that doesn't get you semi-permanent foreigner status in a lot of other American's eyes.

I'm going to guess Wilt Chamberlain...

Phoenix_M: germ78: And what's so offensive about fortune cookies? They're American in origin, but considered Asian by idiots, just like Jeremy Lin.

Actually they're Japanese in origin.

Really? San Francisco is in Japan?

Shostie: Easy enough to fix. Just repackage the Jeremy Lin ice cream as "Chinaman's Choice."

Or how about "Gookies 'n Creame"?
