What's wrong with fortune cookies? Fortune cookies were the creation of Chinese immigrants who came to the US in search of a better life. Damn appropriate if you ask me.

I think it has to do with perpetuation of "the other".

Yeah, well, you have the luck of being an ethnicity in America that doesn't get you semi-permanent foreigner status in a lot of other American's eyes.
