Well, it must be effective. I've not read any stories about any OCD children having their mothers eaten by tigers.

/keep it up, kids - mom's depending on YOU!

Don't all kids get strep throat (and ear infections)? I never knew it was optional.

I had Strep three times as a kid, and my moderate OCD should be getting a kick out of these replies...

I was 20 when I first had strep.

This isn't anything new. It's been known for years (to the point that it is in most introductory psychiatry books) that there is a link between strep infection and some forms of OCD. As someone pointed out it is called PANDAS.

The second line has an even number of characters. And a misspelled word.

Should have been spelled "painful", but then the second line would have had only 60 characters and, thus being an even number, been dissimilar to the first and third lines which have 47 and 45 characters, respectively.

However, substituting the word "truly" would have resulted in an odd-numbered line and a symmetrical 3-line headline with each line having an odd number of characters. Not to mention that the number "3", being the count of lines in the headline as a whole is odd also, thus making the number of "odd" items in the headline "4", which is actually an even number and would then render the entire effort null and void as far as a consistent format goes.

Listening to the onset, age and symptoms I have to wonder if something like this is what is causing the autism/vaccine links in peoples heads. How many of those kids actually had strep?

I wash my hands of this whole article.

With a complicated ritual, of course.

Never had strep as a kid. Was misdiagnosed with strep a few weeks ago. Was actually hand foot and mouth disease. Worst experience of my life.

I found that headline especially painfully.

If Subby hadn't added that extra "ly" to "painful", meteors would have fallen on him.

I have a rock that keeps tigers away. I don't see any tigers around here. Do you?

As someone who had strep throat a lot as a kid and frequently engages in what could be described as OCD-like behavior, I'm getting a kick...

Part of me is wanting to hold off on jumping onto this bandwagon until further peer reviewed research takes place...and part of me things this could explain a lot of what is wrong with my head.

/Officially diagnosed with OCD as a teen
//had strep twice
///dammit somuch.

Anyone who thinks they have OCD issues may want to check out this book:

Many helpful hints that help you see OCD for what it is and help to control it. Can help you turn minor issues on and off like a switch (with some practice).

Came to say this.

johnson442: The second line has an even number of characters. And a misspelled word.

Contrary to popular belief, OCD has nothing to do with meticulousness. These are the most annoying of the self-diagnoses.

I'm not even sure how it got started. Maybe because of the word "obsessive," or because of the common obsession with germs and the fear of them, which can lead to compulsive cleaning.
