I think I would've rather played Everton like was planned this week. It would've been far less stressful.

2012-02-26 01:46:31 PM
Ah, Cardiff didn't deserve to go out that way. Good game all around.

2012-02-26 01:46:54 PM
FAIR PLAY AND A HEARTY CONGRATS TO CARDIFF. WE SHOULD HAVE LOST THIS, THEY WERE FARKING EXCELLENT.

2012-02-26 01:48:51 PM
Mr_H: Ah, Cardiff didn't deserve to go out that way. Good game all around.

Indeed. They played their arse off tonight. Here's hoping they move up and get promoted to the EPL.

/They're in the last playoff spot right now.

Now before I get blackout drunk in celebration, let me say this. This needs to be a learning opportunity. This was one that could have gotten away many times. Kenny needs to hammer home the importance of killing teams off instead of letting them back in it. Carroll needs to work on getting in position on the ground more, instead of just waiting for direct passes to his head. Dirk Kuyt may have just played his way back into the lineup.

2012-02-26 02:01:36 PM
I do believe that this is the first Premier League Thread to go over 500 posts. Probably wrong about that. It's the first one I've been a part of.

Now the real question: which match was better? North London Derby or the CC final?

Napoli-Inter has it's work cut out for it.

2012-02-26 02:02:50 PM
Wow, this is one of the most compelling Sundays in a long while.

it called football, every club goes through these matches against ones they should win, 3-1.
Cardiff played great!

Great games today. I don't smoke, but I feel like I need a cigarette after today's games.

2012-02-26 02:32:22 PM
After the North London Derby, I expected the other games to be rather pedestrian. Instead, Man United concede an equalizer late and then scores to win.

And then we have this game.

I was thinking the same thing. The jump up from last year is incredible. We'd have threads that only got 30-50 and a good one got over 150. Good stuff.

I wonder if spurs will be releasing a dvd of the first 40 minutes of today's game.

Apparently Steven Gerrard is the skipper for Arsenal and like hockey, if you win the penalty shoot out you get a goal added to your score.

ESPN is terrible.

Why are there so many empty seats at the Napoli/inter game? Are there fan sanctions iItaly right now?

It's an AP copy. blame the Associated Press. Although they have fixed Steven Gerrard's captaincy now.

Italy Roster for Feb. 29 friendly vs. USA

GOALKEEPERS (4): Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus), Morgan De Sanctis (Napoli), Salvatore Sirigu (Paris Saint Germain), Emiliano Viviano (Palermo)

DEFENDERS (9): Ignazio Abate (AC Milan), Davide Astori (Cagliari), Federico Balzaretti (Palermo), Andrea Barzagli (Juventus), Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus), Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus), Domenico Criscito (Zenit St. Petersburg), Christian Maggio (Napoli), Angelo Ogbonna (Torino)

MIDFIELDERS (6): Daniele De Rossi (Roma), Claudio Marchisio (Juventus), Riccardo Montolivo (Fiorentina), Thiago Motta (Paris Saint Germain), Antonio Nocerino (AC Milan), Andrea Pirlo (Juventus)

FORWARDS (4): Fabio Borini (Roma), Sebastian Giovinco (Parma), Alessandro Matri (Juventus), Giampaolo Pazzini (Inter Milan)

Any thoughts, martissimo?

Fun but not at all surprising fact: In ten matches, the United States has never beaten Italy.

Also, Jozy Altidore scored twice today for Alkmaar, his 12th and 13th of the season. Easily his best season in Europe by a wide margin.

Lots of thoughts, most of them focused on the fact that the U.S. has no chance, I love em, they are my second favorite team since I live here and all, but no chance, the drama if Giu Rossi played would have been neat, but not gonna happen

ADubs86: Landon Donovan, Jermaine Jones, Jose Torres and Timmy Chandler are all out of the Italy exhibition due to illness/injury. (new window)

Welp, that's not going to be worth watching.

When is Concacaf ever worth watching? Life's too short already.

drewogatory: When is Concacaf ever worth watching? Life's too short already.

Well, I did want to see what Donovan and Dempsey look like together in Klinsmann's system, but it looks like I'll be waiting a bit longer.

Every year, it's surprising how many players get sudden illnesses and unexplainable injuries right before low-level international duties.

And here's 600. This has got to be the largest Premier League/Soccer/Football thread we've ever had.
