Bragging over being in the Carling Cup final is really quite pathetic.

Notable omissions:

Alejandro Bedoya: Don't know how he's done in Scotland but I've always liked him and I thought he would get more time once he got out of Sweden.

Oguchi Onyewu: Injured again. Sad.

Bobby Convey (new window)

Derby day in West London. Bobby faces FFC for the first time since the sale with QPR desperate for points. But seriously, fark QPR. Go back where you came from.

We had to beat Man City at the Etihad to get there, it's an accomplishment.

The trouble is Cup silverware won't help us attract top tier international players. They sure aren't coming for the weather or to play under Kenny, so unless 'pool can start reaching the CL knockout stages with regularity again and start paying competitive wages/transfer fees we are going to stay firmly mired mid table.

Meanwhile, I'll hold my breath until tomorrow and keep my fingers crossed tightly. Very, very tough game at home for Arsenal tomorrow. And sometime last night, Arshavin went back to Russia on a loan, but I have a feeling there's an element of the loan that releases Arshavin permanently when the summer transfer window opens.

You aren't wrong. However, there is something to be said about a good cup run giving a team some confidence. Maybe a win here leads to better things for both the FA Cup and the league. We all saw what a loss to Birmingham did to Arsenal last year.

Plus, the more playing time is team has together, the better.

I don't understand what happened to his form. He started out as hot, unpredictable, and would bust his ass. If he was from South America or an island nation I'd understand him not liking the dreary English weather, but he wasn't. I'm going to chalk it up to a confidence problem and a weakness in rising up to meet new challenges. A lot of the AFC fans have been howling for his head this season and he's looked like a defeated man. I wish him well and hope he re-finds his form at Zenit, apparently Arsenal was a bad fit.

I think 'pool has a decent shot at the FA Cup, but zero chance of finishing fourth. I think the best we can hope for is the Europa next year, along with its brutal schedule that the squad is nowhere deep enough for, screwing us in the league again. They need to spend big and smart, farking moneyball barely works when you are competing for players with just 29 other teams, operating under the assumption that you can outwit 100 or so of the biggest clubs in the world is farking delusional.

Going to miss all of the games due to being on a grad school recruitment weekend at U of Illinois. Hoping Spurs can get a big win against the Arse. Debating whether to record it and watch when I get home or just watch the highlights...

Also cmon Cardiff just because!

I'm still amazed he wasn't better for Arsenal, but I guess it's hard to predict how players will stand up to playing in a new league over the long haul. Hopefully this works well for everyone involved...

Stimied in a Rut: Also cmon Cardiff just because!

Yeah. Part of me wouldn't mind Liverpool winning, but I feel morally obligated to cheer for the Championship squad :)

Lambert is a Premier League quality manager and has built a team that has only failed to score against ManU and Spurs. If you score goals you will always do well.

There seems to have always been a good component in Germany - going back 20 years or more. Any ideas why?

It's come out especially under Klinsmann. Timmy Chandler, Terrance Boyd, Fabian Johnson, Danny Williams, and Jermaine Jones all have German mothers and American servicemen fathers. Steve Cherundolo has been at Hannover forever, not quite sure how that happened but he's had a great career over there. Ricardo Clark Sucks.

Now If only South Korea was as good at football as Germany, we'd be in business.

i don't brag over the lesser cups, the only thing that counts to me is are majors, specifically league and cl. having said that, i will never complain about silverware, and the fact that we bounced mancs from both domestic cups is a pretty awesome bonus.

besides, if we win, it's one more than man u will win this season ;-)

Schwarzer.

Stockdale has gotten some time this year due to injury and last year due to Schwarzer being on duty for Australia. Stockdale's also had a few England call-ups, I believe. He's quite good and I would have been fine with selling Schwarzer to Arsenal at the beginning of last year.
