Uh, that was like, really good... and I'm as sick of that song as anyone.

2012-02-25 09:39:25 AM
That has to be the best version of that song I have ever heard.

I can't bring myself to listen to that but he's a good singer. He made a kickass James Bond song.

It's actually ok to listen. It's done differently enough to not make you hear Whitney in your head.

How 22+ years of belting out hard rock songs with Soundgarden and his vocal cords are still intact, is a mystery to me.

Chris Cornell is one of the best out there.

It's probably because he actually does know how to sing. After all, opera singers must sing loud enough to be heard over a full orchestra, and they can have very long careers.

I think he avoided the cigarettes. Although I don't know how he could have avoided the secondhand smoke during Soundgarden's early days.

Well, um, er...that made me apprectiate Dolly Parton.

He smoked like a chimney and drank like a fish right up until Audioslave's 2nd record or so. He told a story about how much better he felt and how his voice was coming back when I saw them play.

Holy Crap does he ever look young there. I forgot how old I am.

I enjoyed it, but I have a question that I don't know how to google.
Why is the song identified like this?
chriscornell (Dolly Parton / Whitney Houston) - Chris Cornell - San Francisco, Masonic Auditorium - Obama 2012 Event - February 16, 2012
I thought the songwriter and the artist were listed. Why is Whitney Houston there?

2012-02-25 01:50:50 PM
It was ok, but I would have liked it better if he'd stuck to the singing and let someoen else handle the guitar work. You know, someone who could play.

Most people think of IWALY as WH and not DP song. In other words: to cash in

'member the days of the music tab?

yeah, good times man, good times.

In that case... (Dolly Parton/ Porter Wagoner/Whitney Houston)

In case you haven't heard his acoustic version of Billie Jean (new window), get on it. It's phenomenal.

still an amazing voice.

Well, just like everything else in Whitney's short and tragic life, that was totally worthless. Mr. Cornell is not doing himself a service by trying to cash in on the death of a junkie.

He learned along the way then. Badmotorfinger is an awesome album, but his vocals are actually pretty weak.

That would have been very fitting on their 'louder than love' album.

The whole album is awesome. But Billie Jean and Thank You (Zepplin cover) are awesome.

We all know what, and by that I mean who, killed the music tab. But, of course, speaking ill of that person will earn you a time out,

I hate Chris Cornell. Not only is he a phenomenal vocalist, but he's also one the best songwriters working today. His ability to conjure up breathtaking new tunes decade after decade is nothing short of genius. He's also one helluva nice guy, treating his fans and his team with kindness and respect. Of course, he's also very good-looking and admired throughout the industry. I just hate him.

OMG could you drag that cat across the barbed chickenwire any harder? I cashed out after he got to the first chorus. He runs hot and cold with his vocal performances for my tastes, and I am really glad Soundgarden is back together and all, but definitely more on the frosty end of that scale for me.

//anyone else need anything from Wendy's while I'm there?

Saw Soundgarden back in the summer in Vancouver, one of the best shows I've ever seen. GWAR and Weird Al hold the top 2 spots.
Chris, call me, I want to have your babies!

My favorite Male vocalist of the past, well; since Rob Halford.

Did Dolly Parton die or something? Why is this song suddenly relevent again?

Came expecting Obama derp and was completely blown away. Nothing. I guess even Obama haters love Chris Cornell. He hit a wrong note on his guitar twice in the song. That's as much criticism as I could muster.

Great. So why did Subby link this one instead?

Holy carp, how did I not catch this shamefully ignored, understated yet masterful troll until now? Bravo, Sir chopit.

Didn't like it, not enough auto-tune.
