Hey, at 100 he got plenty of bonus rounds.

Hmm, if I had a vast pile of money I'd commission a study to see if playing real pinball has a positive benefit greater than standing while playing video games.

You know that if video games were the new thing today there would be laughingly misleading studies along those lines. But misleading science wasn't as scuzzily prepped when Atari hit the scene.

Is this where the pinball nerds are hanging out?

I only have one right now - Speakeasy - but I used to have a nice collection. Monopoly is probably the best one I ever owned. Someday I'd like a Tommy and Addams Family.

modern games are played secluded in mom's basement. pinball galleries were loud, fun filled places filled with youths and misfits. great for grabbing ass and having fun.

my dad called pinball 'bagatelle', a less mechanical form of shooting ball fun
from his day.

CSB time, one of my friends from high school, an electrical engineering major, has an Addam's Family machine. He says he discovered a design flaw that prevented the third magnet from working properly... so he fixed it. He suspects he may have the only fully functional Addam's Family in the world.

Back in my day, the arcade had no sofas. No giant bowls of Cheetos or refrigerators full of Mountain Dew. You stood up to play games and socialized with other people.

One local arcade, that we biked to, had minature golf and a waterslide.

Today's gaming sucks in comparison.

I've been doing pinball tournaments for the last 9 months. I've now bought 2 tables. A non-working Middle Earth & a White Force(some obscure pin from Spain). Trying to mount a PC on a wood plank for a hyperpin table.

God, I was such a pinball addict when I was a kid. I cut my teeth on Bally's Eight Ball Deluxe...by the time I hit college, the great boards were Pin-Bot (and The Machine, above), Cyclone, Whirlwind and Funhouse. They're rare to see these days, and not the art forms they used to be.

If you haven't been to the Las Vegas Pinball Hall of Fame, you've missed out on some cheap, well maintained pinball. Also, if I remember correctly, all the proceeds go to the Salvation Army.

When I was growing up, there was LeMans Speedway, which, in its earliest incarnation, had a zillion pinball machines and a bumper car track in the back. When you walked in, you could smell the ozone. Then the video games filtered in, and afterwards the bumper car track was ripped out for more games. Eventually it became Aladdin's Castle, before the mall found an excuse to get rid of it.

Now that entire section of the mall has been demolished... and last time I checked, what was left looked like a ghost town.

There was an Eight Ball Deluxe at a cafe in Ceggia, Italy when I was stationed there in the early 1980's, and we would wear that thing out on a Friday night. It was about 10 cents for a 5 ball game.

I've owned quite a few neat machines in my day...

~TAF
~TZ prototype/demo. Different playfield/upper playfield art, third magnet, white clock, signed inside the cabinet.
~ ST:TNG imported from the UK complete with a pound coin mech.
~ No Fear
~ Lost World
~ Meteor
~ Hurricane/Cyclone/Comet set.

Last pin I had was a Bally Game Show that belonged to a friend and was a bit run down. I ended up storing it for him and shopping it out. By far the hardest jackpot/multiball ramp shot of any pin I have played in my life. I used to curse and yell at that machine constantly.

These days I get my fix with FuturePin/pinMAME/Visual Pinball.

No matter how much I adjusted the flipper angle on the left flipper I could never get it to a point where there was a consistent predictable sweet spot to hit that right ramp to load up multiball/jackpot. And even with a fresh flipper kit I couldn't backhand it from the right flipper. The center ramp I could do from either flipper with my eyes closed.

What's this cheat? I have a nice copy of GS under Vpin 9.x that I play often.

I'm not so sure it's a "cheat" as much as a "glitch". But anyway, try this: when you get ball 1 locked and ball 2 is at the plunger, semi-plunge it a dozen or so times so that the ball tracks over the trigger (sorry, don't know the tech terms). I usually bounce it for thirty seconds or so. Then, when you launch the ball up top, it won't go all the way to the multi ball staging area, it'll just drop into the lanes like usual. You can play all you want, or just lose the ball. After you lose the ball, there will be a delay until the it starts "finding" the lost ball, and ejects the first locked ball. The jackpot lite will be lit solid, and there will be no fanfare. Then just hit the ramp and watch your score go berserk.

I first figured this out in Oregon when I was a kid, and it works on this machine out here in Colorado, so it's probably a programming error.

Ok, I gotta try that... Thanks.
