Now this is the right idea! I've been thrifting for the past 6 months or so, it's given me a new perspective on the value of clothing. The shoes you bought for $5 probably cost the company less then that to make. These Nikes are kind of cool, maybe $20 cool, but nowhere near $220+ cool. Like one person noticed the quality issues, so people, your buying a name only.

Nike is doing us all a public service. If you see someone wearing these, you know that they're an idiot so you can save yourself the trouble of trying to deal with them and just walk away.

Seriously, this kind of crazy is just so stupid it makes me sad and angry. But you really have to admire Nike for being able to get people this excited about an ugly pair of plastic shoes.

Around here, it's the Hispanics that copy black culture, notably the proverbial car where wheels are worth several times more than the rest of it, and are being paid of on credit that will still be owed on long after the car has been scrapped.

I recently heard a low income single mom bemoaning it cost $315 to replace a damaged tyre, and how she was short on gorcery money ... my reaction was "WTF are you driving?" and of course it was the above scenario. I said "Why not put back the stock wheels until you can afford a new tyre", and her response was "But I have to look good!"

Priorities, people.
