There's a part of me that wonders if McCain picked her because decided he really didn't want to be president after all, and chose sabotage over withdrawal. If so, it worked brilliantly.

Ay! You guys!

I can't take it anymore.....many frivolous suits and charges since the DAY I became VP candidate. We've all had to pay for our OWN legal defense in this political bloodsport - it's horrendous - why do you think Todd is on the slope today? I am paying to defend in my capacity as GOVERNOR - actions taken in my official position. This is unheard of anywhere else. Unflippinbelievable... I'm sending this because you can relate to the bullcrap continuation of the hell these people put the family through!

No, not totally. They were beaten decisively.

What is broken is the Republican/Fox News Party.

Palin is a psycho hose beast with a messiah complex and delusions of grandeur.

In a Sept. 26, 2007, email to Kris Perry and her husband Todd, titled "Marital Problems," Palin writes: "So speaking of... If we, er, when we get a divorce

Compare that to "her" book:

That day in sunny Texas when the divorce rumors were rampant in the tabloids, I watched Todd, tanned and shirtless, take the baby from my arms and walk him back to the ranch house so Trig could nap while I made calls. Seeing Todd's blue eyes smiling, I chuckled. 'Dang,' I thought. 'Divorce Todd? Have you seen Todd?'

Um, the same reason he's always on the slope, because the "First Dude" is a true Palin in the sense that he has a violent allergic reaction to that icky stuff he's heard the little people call "wurk," and he doesn't want to be anywhere near it.

Palin expressed frustration with the media in an April 11, 2009, email: "If there were any other way I could speak to Alaskans without going through some of these reporters, I sure would." Palin currently works as a commentator for Fox News.

First, LOL

Second, the Governor doesn't have a way to communicate to constituents without the press?

I don't like Sarah Palin. I think she's shrill, crass, a charlatan, and representative of many things that are wrong with the United States of America. I think she would have been disastrous as the next in line for President.

But this is not helping. There's nothing to be gained by exposing her personal marital problems, and it only fuels the charge that the "lamestream" media is out to get her. You should be better than this, ABC. Stop it.

I might have agreed with this, before the "WHAR BIRF SURTIFIKIT" fiasco, before Weinergate -- in which a man was shamed out of office without actually cheating on his wife -- and before the Right wallowed in every detail about the John Edwards(who no longer had held any public office) affair that the National Enquirer could dig up. I'll take someone dumb over someone dumb who thinks she's on a mission from God, thank you.

Remember their debate? Remember when she said "Can I call you 'Joe?'" right at the beginning? Do you know why that was necessary?

Sarah Palin's charming opening debate line for now-Vice President Joe Biden - "Hey, can I call you Joe?" - was scripted after she repeatedly referred to him as "O'Biden" in preparation sessions, former McCain campaign senior adviser Steve Schmidt told "60 Minutes."

...

CBS News said in a release previewing the segment, to be broadcast Sunday at 7 p.m. ET/PT, that Schmidt recalled a reflexive tendency by Palin to refer to Biden as "O'Biden."

"It was multiple people - and I wasn't one of them - who all said at the same time, 'Just say, "Can I call you Joe,"' which she did," Schmidt recalled.

Schmidt said he took over the prepping and simplified it and that she "more than held her own" in the debate. He said he had been warned by a campaign staffer that Palin was doing very poorly in her preparation.

"He told us the debate was going to be a debacle of historic and epic proportions. ... She was not focused ... not engaged," Schmidt told Cooper. "She was not really participating in the prep." Schmidt confronted Palin and, he said, "She said, 'You know, I think that's right.'"

Link (new window)

But, as for Biden being "dumb"...a Juris Doctor from Syracuse University's College of Law is nothing compared to attending 5 different schools for a journalism degree.

And of course, Palin is such a victim - all those pesky lawsuits and the press being mean to her.

Yeah...

His entry into the 1972 U.S. Senate election in Delaware presented Biden with a unique circumstance. Longtime Delaware political figure and Republican incumbent Senator J. Caleb Boggs was considering retirement, which would likely have left U.S. Representative Pete du Pont and Wilmington Mayor Harry G. Haskell, Jr. in a divisive primary fight. To avoid that, U.S. President Richard M. Nixon helped convince Boggs to run again with full party support. No other Democrat wanted to run against Boggs. Biden's campaign had virtually no money and was given no chance of winning. It was managed by his sister Valerie Biden Owens (who would go on to manage his future campaigns as well) and staffed by other members of his family, and relied upon handed-out newsprint position papers and meeting voters face-to-face; the small size of the state and lack of a major media market made the approach feasible. Biden did receive some assistance from the AFL-CIO and Democratic pollster Patrick Caddell. Biden's campaign issues focused on withdrawal from Vietnam, the environment, civil rights, mass transit, more equitable taxation, health care, the public's dissatisfaction with politics-as-usual, and "change". During the summer Biden trailed by almost 30 percentage points, but his energy level, his attractive young family, and his ability to connect with voters' emotions gave the surging Biden an advantage over the ready-to-retire Boggs. Biden won the November 7, 1972 election in an upset by a margin of 3,162 votes.

On December 18, 1972, a few weeks after the election, Biden's wife and one-year-old daughter were killed in an automobile accident while Christmas shopping in Hockessin, Delaware. Neilia Biden's station wagon was hit by a tractor-trailer as she pulled out from an intersection; the truck driver was cleared of any wrongdoing.Biden's two sons, Beau and Hunter, were critically injured in the accident, but both eventually made full recoveries. Biden considered resigning to care for them; he was persuaded not to by Senate Majority Leader Mike Mansfield and others and was sworn into office from one of their bedsides. The accident left Biden filled with both anger and religious doubt: "I liked to [walk around seedy neighborhoods] at night when I thought there was a better chance of finding a fight ... I had not known I was capable of such rage ... I felt God had played a horrible trick on me."

To be at home every day for his young sons, Biden began the practice of commuting every day by Amtrak train for 1½ hours each way from his home in the Wilmington suburbs to Washington, D.C., which he continued to do throughout his Senate career.

Poor Sarah.

While chairman, Biden presided over the two most contentious U.S. Supreme Court confirmation hearings in history, those for Robert Bork in 1987 and Clarence Thomas in 1991. In the Bork hearings, Biden stated his opposition to Bork soon after the nomination, reversing an approval in an interview of a hypothetical Bork nomination he had made the previous year and angering conservatives who thought he could not conduct the hearings dispassionately. At the close, Biden won praise for conducting the proceedings fairly and with good humor and courage, as his 1988 presidential campaign collapsed in the middle of the hearings. Rejecting some of the less intellectually honest arguments that other Bork opponents were making, Biden framed his discussion around the belief that the U.S. Constitution provides rights to liberty and privacy that extend beyond those explicitly enumerated in the text, and that Bork's strong originalism was ideologically incompatible with that view. Bork's nomination was rejected in the committee by a 9-5 vote, and then rejected in the full Senate by a 58-42 margin.

Compare that bolded bit to someone who didn't know what the VP did before she was nominated, and then thought the VP controlled the Senate. There's quite a bit of difference between Biden and someone who just wants a Crunchwrap Supreme and for someone else to take care of her special-needs baby.

So, please don't try to compare Joe Biden to Sarah Palin. Other than both of them being carbon-based life forms, there is no comparison between a man who dedicated his life to public service and his family, and someone who just wanted to make quick, easy money.

She had a valid point. Because the lower 48 states are just so far across the Pacific, it's not feasible for Putin to launch an attack against the majority of the country. Planes and missiles can't fly over the Arctic and Canada to get here - that's just one benefit of a flat Earth.
