I swear gawker posts this article every six months. Their turnover must be pretty high.

Which incidentally coincides with the weird history of my shrinking pants.

Here's a quick breakdown:

1941-1947: William Moulton Marston's fetishes in illustrated form
1947- sometime in the 1990s: published regularly only so the rights wouldn't revert back to the estate of Marston
1990s-present: horrible selling book that stays around supported by the few remaining fanboys who haven't discovered internet porn to jerk off to.

Wonder Woman has been my favorite hero since I was 5. There have been some amazing runs by great authors, but since they stopped trying to make her a sex object for sexually repressed men, most people dismiss her. strong women are not loved by most men. sadly

She should probably be made secretary at Castle Anthrax

My wife and I are watching the Linda Carter series right now. The retooling for each season is SO bad. But it's otherwise good fun. And Linda Carter had one hellva bod.

Wow. That first "campy" pilot video is hideous...Diana Prince living with her nagging mother, and doing Three-Stooges-esque mirror gags before flying spastically into the night? Now I want to watch the whole thing. Holy cow,

Just give it to Bruce Timm. And I mean everything. Comics, TV, film etc.

The article missed Erica Durance as Wonder Woman (well, sort of) in an episode of Harry's Law ;)

This, with one small addendum: no live action. It's difficult to find a better live action Wonder Woman than Lynda Carter, and the public won't accept poor substitutes.

a lesbian with a "a sadistic hatred of all men."

This is really the only interesting angle I see for a modern darker retelling of Wonder Woman. Maybe some story around her having to stop her Amazonian ex girlfriend from exacting revenge on MANkind.

Otherwise Wonder Woman is pretty boring. Can anyone even name one of her villains? Not nearly as iconic as Batman or Superman or even Green Lantern for that matter.

Honestly, it's almost impossible to name a memorable Wonder Woman story out of over 70 years of stories.

Each one that has been mentioned in the past is usually a story where Wonder Woman is nothing more than a guest star.

Even Batman didn't want anything to do with Wonderwoman:

Wonder Woman ONLY works as fetish fuel for guys. Attempts to make her a "feminist" icon or a hero for young girls are simply misguided.
Yes I DO think that girls should have action heroes as well but Diana Prince is an Amazon. She has no need of men and that's not a positive aspect of her personality for young girls as, unfortunately, it is still a man's world. For boys on the cusp of puberty however the implications inherent in tying Wonder Woman up with her own golden lasso are ... stimulating She has never been successfully adapted because the media is not ready for a series or film which consists of various sweaty bad guys trying to get Wonder Woman out of her tights and Wonder woman subsequently emasculating them. After one episode what is there for a TV series? As a movie it sure isn't date night material.

There's actually a large market for cuckoldry and BDSM.

Also, I like the Palicki Wonder Woman. And, hey, boobies!!

I don't understand why Hollywood finds it so hard to make actually good scripts for movies. Hire 1 good writer and have him peruse the internet finding fan forums for about a week and you already should have a good idea about what people want to see. Make the movie that way with a few tweaks so that it is slightly more appealing to the general public and you suddenly have an acceptable if not necessarily great script.

I would probably watch a Wonder Woman movie, if they would make her like the version in this DC Universe trailer:

Link (new window)

And if they can fix that outfit.

Producers of superhero movies want lots of money. They believe that the only source of money is teenaged and 20ish males.

Screenwriters, by and large, seem incapable of writing female roles that are not whores or love interests.

So, yeah. I can see how a woman from a mythological island of Greek female warriors who goes and does heroic stuff solo would be impossible to write properly or to market in modern cinema.

It was a good thing to let Frank Miller get his meathooks on her in All Star Batman and Robin.

Wonder Woman v Sasquatch. They can make that again.

I saw the pilot with Adrian Palicki. They weren't kidding. It's bad in all new sorts of ways.

Suckage at its most basic level. As in What were they thinking? suckage.
