yobbery: Poor guy haz a hard day. We were out for a whole hour!
[i211.photobucket.com image 600x450]
He doesn't seem to be afraid of riding in the car. He was just checking everything out and didn't seem too stressed...didn't make a peep.

My first cat, Clementine, was great in the car. I'd drive 450 miles with her loose in the car, I put a small litter box on the floor in the back and she'd be just fine. When she wanted some attention she'd sit in the passenger seat in front so I could pet her, then she'd go sleep in the back seat. When I got Lucy, who is only my second cat, I decided I should get her used to riding in the car too. I opened the carrier and we drove about ten miles. I was constantly having to keep her from going under my feet but it seemed like it was getting better. We were almost home and I stopped at a light and ended up with a kitten on top of my head. That's when I decided that from now on cats in cars need to be in carriers.

Race fan here - I hope it gets postponed long enough for me to get home from work to see the end. I'm really bummed that it was cancelled yesterday. 7 PM tonight.

[i415.photobucket.com image 497x318]

/ not a race fan, but I have never understood why they can't drive in the rain
// I mean, it's just rain - now if they drove in the snow - that I would watch
/// j/k of course, I realize it would be dangerous
//// but then again, driving at ~ 180/mph195 isn't?

Growing up across the street from the track, it's amazing the changes that have gone on in the last 50 years. There used to be wild cats roaming in the woods around the track.

I'm amazed mostly with the technical coverage of this race. And halfway through, the CAT car is still running strong!

No disrespect intended, just reason #6,959,373 why we could learn a lot about life from cats (actually, animals in general).

/ apologies to Biscuit and yobbery

Thanks Sherpa, I get it. And appreciate tje humor. Unfortunately, a second student has died. My heart, it breaks.

I hadn't heard about the second student. I work in Columbus and while the shooting wasn't here, a lot of the parents were upset. I guess they were thinking if it could happen there.....

For me Columbine is a local school. I remember watching it as it was happening and I know how horrifying and unreal it can be. All I could do was sit in front of the TV and cry. Even today, 13 years later, it still hurts. I'm so sorry for you and everyone who is having to deal with this kind of pain. Hopefully some day we will be able help kids who feel so desperate that the only way they believe they can cope is with violence.

When I moved from IL to WA I had two kids, Maynerd, and a dog in the suburban. We had no carrier for the pets so we had leashes on them, we made the run in the heat of summer and it seems that most of I-90 was under construction. The kids had the window open just a little as we could not run the air condition with out overheating the motor. We had to stop for construction somewhere in Missouri and Maynerd jumped out the window. My son, age seven, jumped out and ran after her. They were both under a semi and the driver had no idea what was going on, the traffic started to move and I heard the hissing of the big truck just as the kid got the leash and ran out from under that big truck with his kitty. I got my first gray hairs that day.

Does anyone have any tricks for keeping those @%$*#×|¢£€π√]™∞+©®&* sugar ants from dog food? I have never had those little bastiges go for pet food before. I have only seen them go for sugar.

We have all sugar, honey, molasses, etc. sealed up so they can't get into that but I just fed Suzy and they found her dish. YARRRRRGH! I hate those little farkers. If the thread is closed, EIP.

Last summer I found ants in the grain bin where I keep the chicken feed and cat food. I did not want to put anything toxic in with the feed so I got some mint tea bags and just put them all around the containers of food. I also use DE around the bins and even in the chicken feed as a wormer. It seemed to help. The ants out here are mean.
