tigerose: Olderguy Sorry about that...:) I think by the time you hit 90 or so, you can start to think, " I am getting older now". But then, my Uncle is 92 and he is not old at all! :)

I am only old in the morning, pre coffee!

Actually, per a post on a previous Caturday, I am crispy... :-)...

Hop Along Cattiday: John Buck 41: Hi all. Interesting week at Buck Manor.

We are ok, pets, too. House is still (mostly) in one piece. A spark between the pellet stove and the outside vent got caught in the wall, probably sometime last weekend and continued to smolder til Tuesday morning. We have a gaping hole about 4' by 7' in the living room. FD showed up about 7:40am and were there for about 90". They did a great job not trashing the living room too badly, just some water damage and a few knick-knacks/dog toys wet and/or nasty from plaster. And more smoke damage than I thought Tuesday afternoon. Insurance is all current and paid up and they will pay for us to stay in a local motel for as long as is needed, as well as repairs/restoration.

That's it in a nutshell. Lots more details but they are unneeded at this point.

Fire is the Only thing I ever worry about...So Happy it was Contained and all came out Unscathed!

With 8 furry kids in the house, fire scares the hell out of me.. no candles allowed, got a new stove with spark ignition.. no pilot flames.. I am an electrician..rewired the house when I bought it. Grounded everything.. and there are two switches by the front door. One is for the porch light, the other, through controls, kills every receptacle in the house. The refrigerator is on an isolated circuit, the electronics feed through a large UPS ( don't like to reboot and reset).. smoke, CO, and thermal detectors will trip an autodialer which calls me and two neighbors.. I am so glad that everyone got out....hopefully, you will be back home soon....

Type at vy ft of pg 2 because that's only the furr-ther I am now.
Forgot that the late Oreo ran Sherpa's life for a while. Mis-typed so mis-saved, but can fix if can find once more.

Need to do for Good Meowning, another copywrong from this AM's paper.
Never seem to be able to scan straight, this one more example.

Also today only, there's a Curious Critters photo exhibit at the Gallagher Student Ctr at Xavier Univ. Critters themselves may be curious, description said no strange species. Almost certainly, no naked mole rats. Photoed against white background, photos 6 ft square. No print-developing trays that big, hi.
on to pg 3

Good morning!! I could get used to hanging around here early. Not so many posts to wade through by this time.

On the bright side, I have started the initial submission process. I handed my thesis in on Wednesday, I will get the pre-review back today and I should be able to officially submit next Monday! Hence, why I have more time now to browse Caturday. :)

John Buck, I am so happy to hear you, Mrs. Buck and all the furbabies are ok. My in-laws had a fire 7 years ago and it was quite a process.

WOW. fires are scary things. glad that everyone in the Buck household came out ok and has a place to stay that is warm. i've heard we're getting a few inches of freezing shiat or maybe 4-6 inches of snow depending on how the weather turns. yeah! just in time for me to make a two hour drive to pick up my son for vacation.

Details could be gory. If so, they're not esp wished here, mayhap. Will say again, glad allbeings are safe from that one.

mousiebelle: I've spent the past 2 days working on quilting projects for the first time since we moved... so it's been 9 months since I've even had my sewing machine out. Lars is all sorts of happy because he LOVES fabric. Cassie is less happy because I'm not focusing 100% of my attention on HER. She figures out ways to climb into my arms to distract me for a while. No pics of the two fuzzies "helping" with these projects as of yet, but here's one current project & then a past project w/ a cat :)

Good Morning Everyone!! We have a lovely 6" of snow. It looks pretty, but, yeah. Shoveling. yuck! Wentworth tried to sneak out the door this morning, got two paws on the porch, turned around and flew back in the house. It was funny! Anyway I am going to be busy pretty much all day, so I just wanted to jump in and tell everyone Hi, and to have a wonderful day!!

Am surprised/pleased I seem to be able to get here & the site that goes by TP without timing out, since I don't seem to be able to reach any of the Greater Good sites after the very 1st click on Animal Rescue. Was pleased that I was able to save some stuff that linked back to ASPCA after one of their frequent begs. (We do give to the local SPCA shelter.) Snatched the Feline-alities page, which They Say is what They Use to match an adopter with a cat.
Only possibility of snow here yet. Furnace wouldn't run yesterday, we wondered why we were so cold if we didn't have Overlord Assistance in our laps. Service guy was able to come early this AM (lucky break!) & found a paperwasp nest in one of the vents, clogging the circulation/causing overheating. Was reminded of brainless insects that flew into the transmitter cabinets at the college radio station more than a lifetime ago, frying themselves & taking us off air. Think the record down the stairs to re-set was something like 20 seconds. No broken necks or other bones, luckily, but since we were so young (teen or just beyond) we were almost as stupid as the insects.

Feline-alities graphic for MVP, Most Valuable Pussycat, that I missed when highlighting

Hey everyone. Let's just get this out of the way and be done with it.

...breathe...

Ok. Went to the OS on Tuesday. Brought the xrays that I picked up from the lab. They didn't see anything on them that would indicate anything resembling a break or a fracture. Sent me home with a wrap that was a little stronger than an Ace. SO...$70 later ($50 copay and $20 for the wrap because my ins. didn't cover it) that's it.

Today, I get a call from my primary dr. telling me to make an appt with the OS. Huh? I told them I already did that and went this past Tuesday. Oh, they ask, how did that go? I asked them if they really wanted to know or were they just being kind. Pause. I told them that had Dr. (primary dr) actually looked at the xray itself and not just the report, he would have seen what the OS saw and saved me some money and some time. I understand that he was being cautious, but dammit, that's overdoing it. They just said, OK, we'll make a note in your chart.

Don't get me wrong, I"m glad I'm ok and that there's nothing wrong (except for a little pain, which I'm taking Naproxin for), but FFS...

Hey there, guys--and thank you to pro vampire for re-upping me...meeting you guys has kept me alive/sane a LOT longer than what would have happened w/o you after my nightmarish last few years. Call it pathetic, but it's so hard to make friends these days that I have almost given up--you only meet people in bars up here, and you get what you deserve if you hang out with drunks that glare at you at last call. I don't ever drink regularly, as I hate the taste, and that's made me a prude--it is so bad to want to find someone to hang out with, but bar guys want to get laid and disappear, and if you aren't hot, hot, Hot, you're going to be alone forever--and it kills me everyday. I may not be pretty; I may not go with the mainstream flow, but my loneliness has gotten to the point where I barely function. I'm a nice, polite, accommodating girl that just wants a way to get someone, anyone, to hang out with...and in my state of being, nothing is working. I can't live like this, alone, and take it much longer. If I can't connect to a real friend soon, I'm committing myself, as there must be a reason why ppl can't get past the hand--You guys that have local buddies are so lucky. Friends are getting endangered here, and I haven't connected w/a person in 5 years--it's killing me. You are all great ppl, and I hope one day that I can have a friend like you guys all have. Even a kitty might help, but I can barely sleep, thinking about this. Thanks for being so great, ppl! W/o the internet, I would never use my voice, and the idea of dying alone just sits on the tip of my nose--I hope everyone is so thankful you have ppl around, as the future is looking bleak on my end....

Never had kids on medical grounds/selfishness; male cousin fathered a young lady who died of complications of what I've survived for 50+ yrs, before she reached 30. If I'd/we'd chosen to have Human Kids, they'd almost surely have been affected. Didn't wish to have a part in perpetuating Faulty Genes, even if intelligence mighta come with.

i think all the mean bones were in your hand! honestly, most people are pricks anyway but it does suck that you haven't found a friend you could hang out with in person. i'm almost in the same boat. since moving to maine i haven't made any real friends of my own, hubby can make friends in an instant it seems but that is both a blessing (for him) and a curse (for me, as the ladies fall all over him despite his marital and daddy to be status). myself, i'd much rather have a quiet night home with some book or even a marathon anime session. i'm an introvert and he's an extrovert, our cats are perverts.

crazy me is intent on doing this whole birth thing without drugs. i did it once almost 12 years ago and i'm positive (or delusional) enough to think i can do it again. hubby says he'll just stay up above my head or behind me. but three or four more weeks til d-day so it's just a matter of waiting her out now. and as long as the hospital has internet there will be pictures up as soon as we can.
btw, what caturday group was the real one on the facebook? i've seen three or four and not really sure which one is the right one. too lazy to go back a half dozen threads and find the link.

so i'm washing my face in the bathroom and the cats are watching me like they always do from the window or the tub. most times i get the look of "why are you playing in the water like that?" today i look up at jake and he reaches out with his paw to grab my hand, wash cloth and all, and brings it to him since i'm obviously not giving him enough scritches or something while i'm in there with them. he reached out a second time and bopped me on the nose. wtf? at least he kept the claws in this time.

That made me laugh.
This morning I was in a rush and was washing my hair in the sink. With one hand. The other hand was busy petting Samson so he'd let me rinse out the shampoo without it getting in my eyes. That seemed to satisfy him. Then afterwards we played tug of war with the wet towel. Good times. :)

konekosama: so i'm washing my face in the bathroom and the cats are watching me like they always do from the window or the tub. most times i get the look of "why are you playing in the water like that?" today i look up at jake and he reaches out with his paw to grab my hand, wash cloth and all, and brings it to him since i'm obviously not giving him enough scritches or something while i'm in there with them. he reached out a second time and bopped me on the nose. wtf? at least he kept the claws in this time.

LOL! a nose boop!

Got a singing engagement by the Vy Lg QT for local Masons' ladies tomorrow

Cute! I like it.
As for the part about low b.g.: I keep un- and re-learning this. Someday it might just stick. :P
Greek yogurt, then frozen yogurt later on. I detect a theme here...hmm.

I'm baaaack! I'm alive. It became more involved than was planned but (*knocks on head*) surprisingly not too much pain as long as I keep my tongue away from the area. I had general anesthesia, 600mg of ibuprofen and one vicodin ES so far so I don't think I'll know the full exent of what I'm in for until later tonight, but so far so good.

QJ Thank you so much for the hushpuppy care package....but you sent it to the wrong house. I just woke up to fire engines. It appears the crazy guy across the street got the package and must have mis-handled them. (it was really just something in his shed, no big deal...I dislike the guy but I don't wish anything bad for him)

Happy Caturday everyone!

Caturday "regular schedule": Caturday runs from sometime Thursday evening(for TotalFarkers), posts to Main at 8AM on Saturday morning, and runs until midnight Monday. Please do check it out on Sunday and Sunday night as well, as some of the best stuff, late answers to questions, and of course, some very good CAD™ will show up later than the typical Saturday afternoon.

FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE BEEN LURKING AND NOT POSTING:

Take the plunge! post some "blanks" of YOUR kitty and see how fun it is to see your kitty in lights and your family's kitty might get a fun or silly caption of his or her very own!

A detailed "how to post pics on Caturday and on fark in general for dummies" page can be found here
(new window).

Once you get the hang of it, posting pics is very easy, but it can seem daunting if you haven't ever done it before. Take a look at that web page and hopefully it will make sense. there's even a bonus section that shows how easy it is to caption your own pics.

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE A NEW KITTY THAT NEEDS A NAME:

Introduce your new charge(s)! perhaps we can have a naming "contest". Post a pic of your kitty and let everyone make suggestions. Some of the ones Caturday comes up with are hilarious and often very appropriate. My guy, "LittleOne", got his new long name "Jester Lord Fluffy Bottom" (partly mine and partly another lovely farker's - take credit you-know-who!).

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE A KITTY WHO IS UNDER THE WEATHER:

Please post details and pose questions. Caturday is a wonderful place to get help as well as have fun. Many of us, having had lots of kitties and having taking care of their lovely and many, many lives and, unfortunately, injuries and illnesses, have become "kitty health resources". Post the issues and we'll all see if we can help.

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE LOST A KITTY TO THE RAINBOW BRIDGE:

For those who have recently lost a kitty, please do let us know. Please show us your pics, tell us the story. Sharing helps. A wise person once said "a joy shared is twice a joy, a pain shared is half a pain". Tell us of the lovely times of days past when kitty was around. Tell us of your heartbreak at losing kitty. it's safe around here; no one will judge. most all of us have been there and will sympathize.

FOR THOSE WHO THE REST OF US DON'T KNOW WELL YET:

there is a fun map that was started by KimJ that shows where various of us Caturdayians are around the globe. to see it and hopefully contribute, go to KimJ's Caturday map (new window)

FOR THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO BE KEPT UP ON CATURDAY GOING'S ON:

If you would like to be kept up, just send your fark name and email address to CaturdayOnFark (at) googlegroups.com or go to http://groups.google.com/group/CaturdayOnFark and add your name to the infrequent email list. an email goes out once a week or so with the current Caturday thread and this or that other tidbit of info. please do be sure to include your fark handle.

FOR THOSE OF YOU ON THE FACE BOOK

There is a Caturday Group at http://www.facebook.com/groups/189276874491877/. It's where we keep in touch during the Two Day Famine and do general chitcat to keep up with each other.

John Buck 41: Hi all.

What IS it with our cats watching us in the bathroom/shower? My Buddy cries to be in my bedroom/bath if I'm in there, and when in the shower, he lounges on the toilet lid, waiting for me to emerge. He's been doing it since he was a kitten, now he's 3-1/2.

Funny, isn't it?? At least 2 of my kittehs and my dog sit in the bathroom and wait for me while I'm in the shower. The cats lick my clean skin. LOL

I don't know what the attraction is, other than they can't understand the HORROR of us getting wet on purpose.

He probably didn't follow the instructions explicitly.
That's what he gets for taking someone else's hushpuppy care package.
Brought the wrath of the hushpuppy deities down on his own head.
