Holy... Glad everyone's ok, John Buck 41!! Scary stuffs there.

Reminds me that I was going to share a "good kitteh" moment with you gize... My future BIL has a beautiful calico girl named Sweetie Pie (aka Pooty) She's a very sweet, though incredibly odd cat. A few weeks ago they noticed what was described as a "dead animal" smell around the kitchen, but tearing the place apart yielded nothing. The kid was using the microwave one night & they noticed the smell came back. The cat started running between the kitchen and the BIL. She would jump into his lap and then back down and look at him, trying to get him to follow her. He finally did (Thankfully!!), and discovered the wall was smoking. He caught it in time to keep the house from burning to the ground (it's a hella old house, and would go up quickly). The wiring was completely welded together, so there's a whole circuit he cannot use w/o fear of burning the place down. GOOD KITTEH for letting the hoomans know there was a huge problem!!!

Ok, that's all for now. I need to take new pics and stuff. I'll be back later. **HUGS** if anyone needs them!

The Ice Queen: John Buck 41: Hi all. Interesting week at Buck Manor.

We are ok, pets, too. House is still (mostly) in one piece. A spark between the pellet stove and the outside vent got caught in the wall, probably sometime last weekend and continued to smolder til Tuesday morning. We have a gaping hole about 4' by 7' in the living room. FD showed up about 7:40am and were there for about 90". They did a great job not trashing the living room too badly, just some water damage and a few knick-knacks/dog toys wet and/or nasty from plaster. And more smoke damage than I thought Tuesday afternoon. Insurance is all current and paid up and they will pay for us to stay in a local motel for as long as is needed, as well as repairs/restoration.

That's it in a nutshell. Lots more details but they are unneeded at this point.

Glad to here all are ok. Hopefully it can be fixed quickly so you won't be stuck in a hotel!

We'll probably be here til late next week.

Thankfully, Mrs. Buck was off that day or I would probably not be posting right now. I would've slept/died thru it while our 200+ y/o house went up like a matchstick in 15 minutes. We live literally 200' from the FD. Wifey knew that calling 911 and having the call re-routed thru county dispatch to our FD would take longer than sprinting down and telling them so she did the smart thing

Adrenaline is an amazing thing. When she hollered up and said "THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE" I only got dressed to the bare minimum---no hat, no gloves, no coat. After 45 minutes standing in the driveway watching the firemen do their thing, I checked out the thermometer. It was 12 degrees. All of a sudden I was cold LoL

Could've been a LOT worse. We are fine, the furkids are fine, and relatively minoir damage.

And there's WiFi here at the motel :)

Gotta crash. Will check back in tom aft. Thanks to all for your thoughts.

I've spent the past 2 days working on quilting projects for the first time since we moved... so it's been 9 months since I've even had my sewing machine out. Lars is all sorts of happy because he LOVES fabric. Cassie is less happy because I'm not focusing 100% of my attention on HER. She figures out ways to climb into my arms to distract me for a while. No pics of the two fuzzies "helping" with these projects as of yet, but here's one current project & then a past project w/ a cat :)

Good luck at the dentist, hopefully your procedure goes very well and they get you all fixed up.
