jethro1138: Ah what the heck.

My cat Lynx just died. He was a tough little cat who'd been through a LOT, and even the cancer that finally got him took several tries.

I figure he should be commemorated on at least one FARK Caturday post. So here he is. And no, he didn't like the necklace.

[gallery.freakzilla.com image 640x426]

He was a handsome boy. Sorry for your loss.

A week ago today, I added this fellow to my family. His name is Oscar. He's a 10 year old kitty who spent the last year and a half living at the pound.

14 pounds of happy cat. He and I bonded instantly. He's incredibly friendly, talkative, and quick to purr.

The best news is that he and the other cats get along beautifully. I suppose it's that he's an old boy, so he isn't a threat to any of them. But there's been no resentment, we've had no fights, and best of all, NO SPRAYING!!

The 2nd pic shows Oscar and Frey D Katt playing together Tuesday night. Just a couple days into living here, and he had been completely accepted.

konekosama: Haruko_Haruhara: Hey there, guys--and thank you to pro vampire for re-upping me...meeting you guys has kept me alive/sane a LOT longer than what would have happened w/o you after my nightmarish last few years. Call it pathetic, but it's so hard to make friends these days that I have almost given up--you only meet people in bars up here, and you get what you deserve if you hang out with drunks that glare at you at last call. I don't ever drink regularly, as I hate the taste, and that's made me a prude--it is so bad to want to find someone to hang out with, but bar guys want to get laid and disappear, and if you aren't hot, hot, Hot, you're going to be alone forever--and it kills me everyday. I may not be pretty; I may not go with the mainstream flow, but my loneliness has gotten to the point where I barely function. I'm a nice, polite, accommodating girl that just wants a way to get someone, anyone, to hang out with...and in my state of being, nothing is working. I can't live like this, alone, and take it much longer. If I can't connect to a real friend soon, I'm committing myself, as there must be a reason why ppl can't get past the hand--You guys that have local buddies are so lucky. Friends are getting endangered here, and I haven't connected w/a person in 5 years--it's killing me. You are all great ppl, and I hope one day that I can have a friend like you guys all have. Even a kitty might help, but I can barely sleep, thinking about this. Thanks for being so great, ppl! W/o the internet, I would never use my voice, and the idea of dying alone just sits on the tip of my nose--I hope everyone is so thankful you have ppl around, as the future is looking bleak on my end....

/again, you guys are great, sorry for the Tolstoy
//ignore my diatribe, but I just had to say something today...the isolation is gettin to me
//still snowing out
///hope everyone's having a great day! (seriously, not sarcastic--I don't have a mean bone in my body anymore)
////you guys are still awesome! ;)

i think all the mean bones were in your hand! honestly, most people are pricks anyway but it does suck that you haven't found a friend you could hang out with in person. i'm almost in the same boat. since moving to maine i haven't made any real friends of my own, hubby can make friends in an instant it seems but that is both a blessing (for him) and a curse (for me, as the ladies fall all over him despite his marital and daddy to be status). myself, i'd much rather have a quiet night home with some book or even a marathon anime session. i'm an introvert and he's an extrovert, our cats are perverts.

professional_vampire: konekosama: Sickapie: Hey everyone. Let's just get this out of the way and be done with it.

...breathe...

Ok. Went to the OS on Tuesday. Brought the xrays that I picked up from the lab. They didn't see anything on them that would indicate anything resembling a break or a fracture. Sent me home with a wrap that was a little stronger than an Ace. SO...$70 later ($50 copay and $20 for the wrap because my ins. didn't cover it) that's it.

Today, I get a call from my primary dr. telling me to make an appt with the OS. Huh? I told them I already did that and went this past Tuesday. Oh, they ask, how did that go? I asked them if they really wanted to know or were they just being kind. Pause. I told them that had Dr. (primary dr) actually looked at the xray itself and not just the report, he would have seen what the OS saw and saved me some money and some time. I understand that he was being cautious, but dammit, that's overdoing it. They just said, OK, we'll make a note in your chart.

Don't get me wrong, I"m glad I'm ok and that there's nothing wrong (except for a little pain, which I'm taking Naproxin for), but FFS...

i would kill for something stronger than tylenol. really. i drool at the thought that i can take aleve once the baby is born. sharp shooting pains in my back are not making nights alone at work a fun thing. but yeah! this should be my last night, fingers crossed, before i go into labor or something like that.

"The Great Earth Mother, in her wisdom, made the final days of pregnancy uncomfortable on purpose, so that women would be able to face their fear of delivery just to get it over with." - Jean Auel - The Shelters of Stone

Good luck bringing the little one into the world, and post pictures as soon as you can - we all can't wait to see!

crazy me is intent on doing this whole birth thing without drugs. i did it once almost 12 years ago and i'm positive (or delusional) enough to think i can do it again. hubby says he'll just stay up above my head or behind me. but three or four more weeks til d-day so it's just a matter of waiting her out now. and as long as the hospital has internet there will be pictures up as soon as we can.
btw, what caturday group was the real one on the facebook? i've seen three or four and not really sure which one is the right one. too lazy to go back a half dozen threads and find the link.
oh, and cats!
from the fark article about japanese fart wars. it was funny. in a few there were naked wimmens, i joked that i could blow them all away like a secret weapon.

I laughed like a 12 year old boy at that article. The cat one made me laugh way too much.

reddot: John Buck 41: Hi all. Interesting week at Buck Manor.

We are ok, pets, too. House is still (mostly) in one piece. .........

Sorry to hear, but glad you are all safe!

Big weekend in the Daytona area. I'll stay close to home 'till "they" leave. For any race fans have a great weekend! I worked across from the track (new window) for 25+ years and it was always fun. I'd park cars on the driving range, then head to Savannah for a few days. All who helped park got a nice cash bonus!

Today is Ace Hardware's 20% off day.........why am I giving them a plug?

[i41.tinypic.com image 640x548]

And Johnny watching the dog across the street. It's cool and crisp. Orange tree still has fruit, but is blooming. I love this time of year!

Thanks, reddot. Always nice to see Johnny.

I think any animal rescued from a shelter has some sort of instinct and understanding of what their owners did for them. I find it so hard to understand why people go out of their way and spend so much money on pets when they could easily go to a shelter and adopt. That pet would love you more than any pure bred would.
I'm checking today if my landlord would allow a cat. I want to begin fostering.
Happy Caturday!!!

So Glad that your ankle is Not Broken:} I understand about having Doctors that don't bother to read your chart before they talk to/treat you..

Meant to say this yesterday but I was distracted by a shiny thing...

When speaking of x-rays in this litigious society, a doctor's opinion is less than a radiologists opinion, and when speaking of bones an ortho's opinion is equal to (or greater than) a radiologists opinion. The average doctor will never commit until a report is received from a specialist and will always err on the side of caution.

Even with the cyst I had removed yesterday, the surgeon told me several times he was sure that it was nothing cancerous. However he still has to await a pathologists report before he can send my case to the archives.

He's bathing his little heart out. His incision (which was glued instead of sutured) looks great. I'm keeping a close eye on him, but I think his boo-boo can take a few licks without any negative impact.

so after all the crap about me not being able to handle the roads in the mountains this morning i have to say that the roads were worse here last night. my biggest problem was the people who felt the need to go 35 in a 50. but the ex was early as well so i didn't have to wait around long to get my son. i think that's the last time i listen to hubby telling me what's best when it comes to driving in the "snow".
of course when i went to the park to get a few shots of the pretty trees this morning before leaving, all of the snow had fallen off the branches and it just looked dumb so i didn't bother with pictures.

Now I've finally reached vy ft of sometimes lucky Pg 7, see again it wasn't lucky today. Post to pg 8. Sing-cere condolences to both Peki for loss of Tabitha & jethro1138 for loss of handsome Lynx.
Wonder which insulin Tabitha was on that the blankety-blank pharm co discontinued? Ginger, sr cat here, was dx as diabetic this past Aug. He's able to take protamine zinc, which I was surprised is still made. I had that & old-fashioned regular by glass syringes & re-sharpenable needles that had to be kept in cylinders with isopropyl alcohol & boiled at least once a wk, when I was dx 50+ yrs ago.
jethro, there was a Lynx who let us live with her a lifetime ago; think I may be able to find a pic. Her mother was Siamese & not very good at mothering. This Lynx rode around with an OH Educational Bcstg tech until they reached Cincinnati. We'd just lost Gretl, a quite-large seal tortie we brought with us from W Berlin a slightly longer lifetime ago, along with Cheeky, a white & tabby cat we adopted from a Kings Own Scottish Borderers family. Regiment got orders for N Ireland & Cheeky couldn't go back to Britain with the family, as 6mo quarantine was still in effect.
Lynx who let us live with her finally succumbed to kidney failure, as too many do. She was a sweet cat, & is depictured here:

mousiebelle: I've spent the past 2 days working on quilting projects for the first time since we moved... so it's been 9 months since I've even had my sewing machine out. Lars is all sorts of happy because he LOVES fabric. Cassie is less happy because I'm not focusing 100% of my attention on HER. She figures out ways to climb into my arms to distract me for a while. No pics of the two fuzzies "helping" with these projects as of yet, but here's one current project & then a past project w/ a cat :)

It's good to meet a fellow quilter on Fark. Your table runner is beautiful. I see you have two helpers. I have only one, a large orange cat named Tom. He loves fabric and his favorite place to sleep is in a box of fabric scraps from leftover projects. It was a big day for him when I made catnip 'mice' from some scraps of velvet I had lying around. Despite sewing the tails on very tightly, they didn't last long.

Home now.. have a big mess at the brewery. The contractor brought short construction dumpsters and the company that was supposed to dump them decided to send people home early.. so we still have a pile of concrete chunks to contend with.. and with the very brisk wind and the contractor opening all of the doors, the dust got blown all over everything.. when the mess is gone, I will rent an air compressor and a long hose.. there's a lot of dust to deal with. This is the second brewery I have worked for.. and don't drink.. I keep everything working so they can make good beer for those that do... check Hardywood Park Craft Brewery.. they're on FB and the web... great bunch of people.. good place to work.
