Well, he does.

2012-02-23 04:17:59 PM
Sad to say but if he wins another 4 years I am almost certain there will be more than one attempt at removing him from office. The extreme right wing talk these days is absolutely toxic and if they truly believe what they are saying the don't really see any choice but to act.

He leaves office January 20th, 2017. That's one month short of 5 years.

I'm sorry you aren't good at counting, subby.

No, subby, that's not how it works. 0bama's magical time machine only goes BACK in time, to allow him to cause the recession, 9/11, white flight, the Vietnam War, and the unfortunate incident with your cat. If he goes forward in time, it'll only be so he can see what's going on in the Confederate Republic of Gilead under Popeident Santorum.

All the Great-Great-Great-Grandchildren of Death Star Contractors who migrated here from far, far away are now shiatting their pants and hoarding their money because that awesome Moon colony project is questionable. The Moon is about the same size, and would be run by an asshole who'll drop his right-hand man for a younger version after all.

Way to kill the economy, fartbongo!

He needs to keep at this if (when) he gets re-elected. Every damn year, he should casually mention he has 5 years left in office. Just bring it up in conversation. Holy shiat, imagine how much fun that would be in 2016.

So why not start with a proposal now? Or back when both houses of Congress were Democratic? Even GW Bush managed to actually make a proposal despite a lack of popularity for the idea. It's almost as if he was not really serious about this issue.

On the other hand, conceding the race in 2012, maintaining the trend of obstruction in the House, and hoping that things get worse so they can blame them on a Democrat might be the smart move.

Relatively smart anyhow. The GOP has definitely gone off the rails into idiotville.

Because Congress is too busy talking about completely irrelevant issues and listing to old Catholic dudes in dresses talk about contraceptives. Why not wait until the Dems have full control of both houses and actually get something productive done?

Zen in a Beggar's Life

Tosui was a well-known Zen teacher of his time. He had lived in several temples and taught in various provinces.

The last temple he visited accumulated so many adherents that Tosui told them he was going to quit the lecture business entirely. He advised them to disperse and to go wherever they desired. After that no one could find any trace of him.

Three years later one of his disciples discovered him living with some beggars under a bridge in Kyoto. He at one implored Tosui to teach him.

"If you can do as I do for even a couple of days, I might," Tosui replied.

So the former disciple dressed as a beggar and spent a day with Tosui. The following day one of the beggars died. Tosui and his pupil carried the body off at midnight and buried it on a mountainside. After that they returned to their shelter under the bridge.

Tosui slept soundly the remainder of the night, but the disciple could not sleep. When morning came Tosui said: "We do not have to beg food today. Our dead friend has left some over there." But the disciple was unable to eat a single bite of it.

"I have said you could not do as I," concluded Tosui. "Get out of here and do not bother me again."

The problem with immigration reform bills has been that Congress can't resist tacking their own pet projects onto the legislation, with the result being that the bill being voted on has so much extra crap written into it that it can't be voted on intelligently. If they would focus their efforts on immigration reform--period--they might be able to get something done.

That's the problem with Congress in general. There REALLY needs to be some rule against attaching irrelevant crap to a bill.

I'm curious about the conceding the race theory. Who exactly is on the sidelines that you would view as a candidate who's nomination wouldn't be viewed as conceding the race?

Obama can troll with the best of them. I admire him for not doing it more, because if I had the power to make millions of Republicans go insane with rage just by talking, I don't think I could resist.

The Republican candidate is either going to be an empty suit the base of the party hates, or a total religious zealot nutbar that will re-energize Obama's base. Yeah, Obama has 5 more years.

I don't think that was President Bush's problem. His own base revolted over the very idea of it--the Democratic Party was trying to help Bush get it done.

He linked to two places, neither of which debunked what he claimed to.
Both of them discussed that the criminal percentage of those deported has gone down.
Neither of them addressed the raw number of deportations.

I'll admit that concession isn't a hard choice this year with an incumbent in the White House and a fractured GOP. I think Thune might have made a decent candidate for the GOP with serious backing, but he's pretty green still, and probably eyeing one of the upcoming elections.

Why the hate? What has he ever done to you? For that matter, I don't see how you can show the country is demonstrably worse off for his presidency given the state in which the country was given to him. Nor do I see how what he has done is that different a course than any Democratic president except Kucinich would have pursued (especially Hillary Clinton). Other Democrats might not have had the balls to take the chance to kill Bin Laden, but I don't see how you'd hate him for that. So what is it?

The Republicans have had exactly one house of Congress for 13 months now, so naturally you blame them for everything that happened in the last 37 months?

How about this: if he's really serious. Propose SOMETHING. Get both Republicans and Democrats on record with an actual vote. Or, if not serious, he can keep on trolling the hispanic voters.
