Bang-up job watching him, daycare workers!

Gross negligence

If the kids name was Jesus we wouldn't be reading this right now.

it was an act of god.

.... A therapist arrived...for a session.... with a 1 year old.... W. T. F?

How much longer would he have been in there if someone didn't specifically come in looking for him? Unbelievable.

Upside: the kid is spared a life of catholic butt rape.

Adalius: .... A therapist arrived...for a session.... with a 1 year old.... W. T. F?

There are lots of different types of therapists. The kid could have had physical issues. Mental disabilities. My mother worked with young toddlers who had speech impediments and many people referred to her as a therapist.

2012-02-23 04:56:16 PM
God had a plan for him, I guess. Why God has all these plans that necessitate babies and the elderly is beyond me.

Could have been developmental therapy.

My daughter was a preemie and saw physical therapists to help her catch up to kids that were her chronological age.

He's clearly not a Catholic though. We don't drown in the baptismal font during Lent.

How in the FARK can even a kid drown in a baptismal font? Was he part lemming? Did he force his own head underwater?

A one year-old in two feet of water, as the article stated.

RTFA! The baby was found in 2 feet of water.

I didn't know churches had their own typefaces.

Some churches practice whole-body submersion for baptism, in which case their baptismal is more the size of a Jacuzzi.

There are more on Wikipedia.

Still, the kid seemed to be programmed for self-termination. It wasn't like the font was two inches off the ground or something.

So you are going to pray to the cruel heartless god that allowed this baby to drown? Let us know how that works out for you.

Don't we chalk this up to "It was God's Will" and celebrate?

This religion thing confuses the heck out of me.

I guess it's obvious from the picture, but I should point out that a lot of these are also designed to be ornate decorations for the church, and so will be left uncovered and full of water as normal operation.

It's a shame that the kid drowned, but I'm guessing this has more to do with the daycare loosing track of where their kids were/ failing to identify hazards than the church having an open pool of water.

2012-02-23 05:22:27 PM
Had the kid survived

"Such a close call! Praise the Lord and His Compassion"

What is likely happening now

"It was his time. Praise the Lord and His infallible Will"

Sure wish my boss treated me like that

"AJW! You did Jack-shiat today! You must have had your reasons. How about a raise"

I've got kids and I chuckled. Good one subby :)

Mind you I also find it perversely amusing when people die on pilgrimage - they got what they came for, closer to God.

Wow, the Mormons aren't content with waiting for someone to die to perform a posthumous baptism now?

itsfullofstars: While finding the above pictures, I came across this. Can someone explain this to me? Perhaps a Catholic?

[desmond.imageshack.us image 478x480]

This is at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Eagle River, Alaska. It's from a company that sells custom instalations of baptismal fonts so I'm assuming that's what each side of this installation is for. But correct me if I'm wrong but that's a casket in the lower right photo and that is a drain in the upper photo. So now my question:

WTF?

Mormons are doing it. Why can't anyone else who believes in Christ baptize someone who's dead? Why are you "WTFing"?

2012-02-23 06:55:10 PM
Praise the Lord! It's getting dusty in here.

Perhaps the Lord called him home because he was going to become the antichrist and The Plan is not yet fulfilled. We don't know and should not doubt Him. Be thankful, if not jealous, this child of God has died. He's the lucky one. Maybe you will be blessed and your children will be called Home soon as well. I'm sure he's now a darling little angel. We should all be so lucky.

In Indiana, childcare ministries are not required to follow state childcare laws, including child/teacher ratios.

There are ongoing programs to try and get them to follow them voluntarily, but OMGGETTHEGOVERNMENTOUTOFMYCHURCH.

All children are programmed for self termination. The parent's main responsibility during the first two years of a child's life is to prevent the child from killing itself.

1 year olds dont usually speak and are just starting to be able to walk at all. I can't possible imagine what any kind of therapist could possibly accomplish with someone that age, regardless of disabilities.

And because this happened at a church, there will be no investigation, no charges filed, no repercussions of any sort. Had it not been a church, the place would already be shut down.
