I only made it to #3 but I already know the Vinnie Johnson one is the best. He looks like he's developing bell's palsy, right at the moment of that photo shoot.

No Iceman poster? No Sidney Moncrief, Sir Sid poster? Come on!

Majik Time.....

BWAH HAHA HAHA

Don Majowski was such a joke.

Hey mom, will you buy me this poster of a cross-dressing black man? Mom? Why did you faint, are you OK?

2012-02-23 10:22:07 AM
Why is the Jordan one flying through the air bad? It's still looks pretty cool to me.

/I had none of these posters

2012-02-23 10:22:32 AM
The only sports poster I ever had was Neil Leifer's shot of Ali standing over Liston. I generally preferred my posters to be either album covers or movie posters.

2012-02-23 10:23:45 AM
Not only did I have the Bash Brothers poster, and still do have it in storage, but it was also signed by Canseco and Mcgwire. I also had every Jordan poster especially the ones of him posterizing Ehlo. This one is my favorite.

chicitysportsfan.com

But what I also think is funny is how many of those posters feature the players with guns. Today you would never see that on a poster.

2012-02-23 10:23:55 AM
DAMN. Was hoping to go 0-fer.

I had Chicago Vice.

I had the Bermuda Triangle with Singletary, Marshall and Wilson.

Wanted Mad Mac.
And Grand-ma-ma.

/Jim Everett? General Blade? WTF?

2012-02-23 10:28:39 AM
I had this one....probably still in my parents basement somewhere.

How many of those did I have?

None.

How many of those do I wish I had?

Nearly all of them. Holy sh*t those are epic. Why can't they make supremely cheesy posters like that anymore?

(maybe they do, I just never go in the poster section...)

You know, Jordan's damned photogenic. It really stands out when compared to all the awkward posters of athletes who are there because of on-field/court stardom (especially when temporarily and/or meteorically), and had no business lending their image to a trying-too-hard visualization of their nickname (some of which are perfect, BTW - just not in poster form).

That said - I love all those. Childhood memories flooding back...

spack almighty: It really stands out when compared to all the awkward posters of athletes who are there because of on-field/court stardom

It helps that for most of his posters, they went with actual, in-game shots, not cheesy poses with awful '80s lettering.

I don't think he's any more photogenic than the rest, he just had better image control.

/but that means that none of his posters are as awesomely bad as, say, Majikowski.
//but I think the only fun time to watch American Idol is when the supremely awful people go in there - once it's only talented people, I stop watching

That's great how the Andre Dawson one wasn't licensed by MLB and couldn't include a jersey with the Cubs logo.

You can pretty clearly see Nike's influence on the Jordan posters as well. Aside from the Mars Blackmon ones (which was pimping the commercials) and the inexplicable "Jordan as Grand Ma Ma" one, they all have a more artistic quality to them.

/Had the Bo "Black and Blue" one

Oh, and if I did own a sports poster with that dwarf Spike Lee on it, I'd have burned it toot suite.

I had this one too:

I think these were only available from "your Chicagoland and NW Indiana Chevy dealers" so they may not be that common for everyone.

Remember that Dr. J poster. Thankfully I had none of the ones on this list. And to quote The Lopper: "Jim Everett? General Blade?" WTF indeed.

Damn, I had a bunch of those. My mom still has them. She even got some mounted on foam core.

Boz, Kevin Mitchell, Mad Mac, Bash Bros, Bo: black and blue, and Nolan Ryan.

Why yes, I was born in 1978, why do you ask?

2012-02-23 11:12:57 AM
I didn't have it but my cousin had the Griffey Sr./Jr. poster in his room for a long time.

They are epic.

My cousin had this one up in his garage back when we were kids.

thechive.files.wordpress.com

AFAIK, it's still there.

Incidentally, that's the last time the Bills were any good.

I thought the#32 jordan with arms stretched out one was good, was I wrong? The rest are tacky to bad to outright weird.
(I'd link but I'm on my phone, sorry)

Bad chop job on #14? (Jordan's head)

Or how about the poster of Shawn Kemp dunking on Pippen, were he is so high in the air he is basically sitting on Pippen's shoulder. Tried to find it on Google but couldn't.

2012-02-23 11:30:07 AM
I knew so many people with the Wings poster (Jordan with his arms stretched out).

Too bad Scott Norwood was at the trigger. Tons of collateral damage to the immediate right of the target.

I was surprised by the Dale Ellis poster. Especially since it is just him in some generic green sweats being creepy.

There was an awesome Lawyer Milloy and Ty Law "Law Firm" poster I wanted when I was younger. Mom and Pa wouldnt go for it.

I have that rolled up somewhere in my parent's house, along with a Danny Tartabull poster.

Awesome. Lots of gun references, something you never see nowadays.

Poor Scott Norwood. That was a long kick in windy conditions. 47 yards. Out of his range. His longest made FG that whole season was 41 yards.

Not really his fault. It was the Bills offense's fault that they couldn't get farther down the field on that final drive. But Norwood has become the scapegoat.

Had the Boz poster as well as this gem on my wall

All I could find was this one, which Rodman may have been enjoying:
