They believe it because it is true to them. A debate between Obama and Gingrich would be Obama making nuanced points and Gingrich repeating derp. Any 'conservatives' watching this would choose the derp as winner over the fact based nuance that Obama has to say.

If he was such a great debater, why are Romneybot and the Frothy One kicking his ass?

Still, I hope he sticks around until after Super Tuesday.

Even the thread about Newt's demise is dying.

I heard some fool (a rank explaining that Santorum will "mop the floor" with Obama because the difference between them is so obvious and Santorum stands by his convictions. Apparently it never entered his mind that the vast majority of Americans find Santorum's policies noxious.

If you took his candidacy seriously in the first place you were misled. He was done as soon as he quit this campaign the first time , and even before that was an also-ran at best.

Thanks for the clownish buffoonery, Newt.

This is good news... for Santorum. You would have to think Newt's voters would find it easy to make the switch.

/and that's good news for Obama in November

Santorum only has a shot if nearly 100% of Newts supporters go for him by super Tuesday. Newts not going to bail before then, and even if he did, Santorum wouldn't get enough votes to beat Romney in delegate count before the end of the primaries.

Intrade has the odds of Romney being the eventual Republican nominee at 76.6%
They also have Obama as a favorite to win with a 60.7% chance. Funny how that percentage has been climbing lately.

I believe you mean "pus". If I'm going to have puss all over my rug, I want Newt nowhere near it.

My thought is that if Santorum wins in Michigan, he might be perceived to have "momentum" going into Super Tuesday. Newt's voters may see the writing on the wall even if Newt doesn't, and start voting for Santorum. Now the Romney campaign has to deal with "is it all crumbling for Romney?" questions, and his money starts running out.

The long fight, even if Romney eventually wins, totally favors Obama, no matter what the Republicans try to sell.

Of course, I'm just an "internet expert."

I'm a classic Fark independent, so I only vote for Republicans. I'm also a health insurance agent, and I believe the health care reform law will end my job.
So obviously I'm not a fan of Obama. My professional assessment as a certified and accredited internet expert? Obama has this one in the bag.
The only chance that the Republicans have at this point is a major event that tanks the economy. Oil shooting up to $200 a barrel, economic meltdown in Europe or China, a major natural disaster, that kind of thing.

It's true that Obama can't control these events, and shouldn't get the blame; but he would. As as a whole, the American electorate is just that stupid.

He needs to drop out and endorse Santorum so Sntorum can get enough momentum to over-take Romney.

Maybe he wants Romney to win since he's more viable in the general election than Santorum.

It's rope-a-dope because he's out of money. He may be looking for a brokered convention where he'll have enough backing to have some influence. He knows he can't win, but he may imagine himself as indispensable to Palin, and so a Palin/Gingrich ticket. Newt knows that Newt has a way with the ladies, so he doesn't mind VP. He knows Palin is a woman and a rube, which will allow him to be puppetmaster, thereby running the world without having to deal with his dismal approval rating. The template is already there.
