I always enjoy these little maps, how the map and the famous people always come to a screeching halt just BARELY above 96th Street. Sure, Charlie Charlie the Crazy Puking Junkie doesn't have the screen presence of Bill Murray, but his spot under the tracks at 128th Street is just as posh and Charlie Charlie puts on a helluva show!

Ha! I live a block away from Bill Murray. Awesome.

A few years ago when my brother and his wife were still in Brooklyn, my SIL would have her kids play in the sand box on a semi regular basis with the kid of whatsherface from Criminal Intent. They also lived a couple of blocks away from Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams and for a short period would see them just hanging out on the stoop or on their balcony drinking lemonade before the paparazzi started staking the brownstone out. Also, my brother had seen Tom Brokaw on the subway a handful of times while he was still working downtown.

I was walking around E3rd between A and B and Mrs. Highway says "Hey look that guy from Men In Black." I didnt see who she was talking about. We kept moving and I let it go. Six months later we are watching Mr. Show at a buddy's house and she say, "HEY! There he is the guy from Men In Black we saw near my apartment."

David Cross is in the first MIB for like 3 minutes and that is what she went with. God damn it.

/there is a UCB theater on that block now.

Well, in all honesty, I guess David Cross would be one of those "That guy. You know that guy in that thing..." to a lot of people.

True. I am a big Mr. Show fan so it was funny that she went MIB. Totally understandable. I did see him another time. We also saw Lucy Lu, Eli Manning, some girl from American Pie, and of course Handsome Dick Manitoba.

My guess is Connie Chung lets him stay with her. They get kickbacks from paternity test laboratories to help pay the rent.

Al Pacino owns an apartment at that address. (and a loft down town)

But he does not "live" in either place.

Mostly he checks into whatever hotel he is nearest to when he decides its time to sleep.

I used to work at a restaurant right down there, on the corner of Avenue B and 3rd, no one famous ever came to our restaurant though, except some top chef contestant.

And the list is really missing a ton of famous people who live in New York.

CSS: I used do live across the street from Jorge Posada on East 77th Street. I used to see him all the time, but my boyfriend (who is a huge Yankees fan) only saw him the day we were moving out. He used to get so jealous when I let him know I saw Posada.

I was glad to see that. Even TFA points out that the tradition in NY is to leave famous people the fark alone. It just rubs me the wrong way to see this.

It's funny that Howard Stern and Don Imus live just a few blocks apart.

What's the cheapest apartment you can get in Manhattan? That's bigger than a closet.

Whenever we go back to the old hood we get lunch there. Delicious stuff. Cheers.

To answer that you have to understand that a Manhattan closet is a fraction of the size of a similar convenience in the rest of the country.

So your question becomes an infinite loop.

You don't want to live in an infinite loop.

I just saw a 280sf apartment listed for $1250/month located on 81 and 1st ave .

You'll just have to stick your asscheeks out the window every time you need to fart

That isn't so bad, I know of 450 sqft 3 bedrooms that go for $4000 a month in the Lower East Side.

Is there a roach-infested efficiency that's above a brothel in a crime-riddled area?

That's actually a REALLY good deal.

I work in the Manhattan rental market. Normally starter studios start at around $1400 unless you are willing to go uptown where you can find places in the $1100-$1200 range. The UES I think is where you can find the best deals in the best neighborhood (because it isn't considered "cool" to live in the UES). Downtown is horribly overpriced in my opinion. I just rented a 250sf studio (and the 250 is probably exaggerating it a bit) in a walk up building on Clinton Street for $2,000/month and it rented in 1 day.
