Last I checked, George W. did coke more than 18 years ago, and most people I hear running their mouths about him act as if it's the end of the world. I hope they crucify Matt Lauer, and I hope Katie Couric's head explodes from the irony of giving him a pass while she continues to be ridiculously politicially biased.

I think it very different than pure fiction if the spokeperson is not asserting that it was pure fiction, but I find it difficult to get upset over a minor journalist snorting coke 2 decades ago. I might get a tad annoyed if he sucked a couple lines and then tries to get out of it by having his spokesperson use a specious analogy. But what really ticks me off is important political figures past and present who try to "spin" there ways out of past indiscretions using illegal drugs by hemming and hawing, saying they never inhaled or attempting to bury allegations of their coke-snorting youth and obstinately refusing to face up to the charges.

This hardly seems worth reporting. Guy did coke a few times years ago? So farking what?

What? He finally admitted it? Last time I checked, he said that it didn't matter what he did in the past, and refused to answer any questions concerning past drug or alcohol abuse. And as Mattevil pointed out, as President, I expect Bush to be a bit more forth-coming.

He didn't admit it, I'm just going on what other Farkers say. Because, of course, Farkers are always right :-).

Of course, Mattevil also pointed out that Matt Lauer was young when he did this and therefore it should be excused. So I guess I stand corrected, after all, Bush was in his 60s when he did coke in college, right?

Matt Lauer should be forgiven for doing drugs because he's liberal.

George Bush and Rush Limbaugh should be crucified for doing drugs because they're conservatives. (well, Bush is a sort-of conservative.)

If Matt Lauer spearheads the "war on drugs" in his day=to-day life, if Matt Lauer allocates money to eradication the scourge of cocaine in S America (and damn the consequences to the civilain population), if Matt Lauer's "people" put drug users and drug dealers in jail with unbridled glee...then yes, he is the world's biggest hypocrite and he deserves to be flayed on the altar of public opinion.

Since I don't think he does these things, who cares about what he did in the 80s? Not me.

The president of the USA, on the other hand, DOES do all these things. As a result, I think the people should be allowed their curiosity as to how big a hypocrite their commander in chief really is, no?

There is a difference between Matt (interviews a backstreet boy) Lauer and George (leader of the free world) W. Bush. Especially when one of George's top jobs is to enforce stupid drug laws. I'm not saying a reformed former coke fiend can't be president.
